Hey. I am willing to get into the Satellite Systems world and I am about to buy a LNB now. I was wonderign wheter the Grundig Digital Satellite LNB capable of working with 0.7db frequencies is good for a dish of 1.2 metres, with which I will try to access Hot Bird 6 and Sirius2, Thor3, Eutelsat W2. I will really appreciate if anyone could help me out soon, as this is regarding a purchase in an soon-ending auction.

You would probably be better off with an MTI or Invacom LNB, the 0.7db refers to the noise figure of the LNB, the lower this figure the better more trouble free reception. What make is the dish and does it have a feed horn?

Will work, depends on the price - the lower the figure the better the reception.

0.7 isn't that good.

Universal 0.6 or better.

Also depends on what satellite you want and where you are located. Check the footprint for dish size at

http://www.lyngsat.com/

Hope this helps - and the auction hasn't ended - plenty more, I bet, if you search.

Well I don't know the brand of the dish, it's some dish that I found in the backyard. It isn't damaged. Does the brand matter? And it has this long thing that holds the LNB, if that's the feeds horn. Ok, so let me get it right: the smaller the db figure the better the LNB?

On the website choose a satellite i.e. Astra and in the listing for the channels at the right you will see a column 'beam' click the link and you will be taken to a page that shows the coverage for that channel.

They are colour coded to indicate the size of dish you will need to pick up that channel, if it is Free, some need subscription.

the example below will take you to the Astra page...
