Hi

Sorry if this is slightly off topic, hope someone can help.

Installed the SS2 into my machine and when I restarted I got an error message in the form of "Mobile Device Properties" - "The TCP/IP network transport is not installed".

And now my Internet Connection doesn't work on that machine, (I connect through a Netgear DG834 Router). This has happened since I installed the SS2 Card, so what could it have done to effect my Lan Card.

Something strange is when I go into the Status of my LAN Card it is showing as connected with the following info:-

Address Type:- Automatic Private Address
IP Address:- 169.254.145.59
Subnet Mask:- 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway:- Blank

There is no way I can connect to my Router from this machine either.

Well hope someone can help, or if someone know's of a better place to post this then let me know.

Cheers

The SS2 is a network card in it's own right, so try setting it up properly (in 'properties/TCP=IP') with it's own valid static (unused) address.

To get yourself started again (or maybe to just test what the hell is going on) you can disable the B2C2 device in Network Connections.

Force your LAN card into the open with a static address on the same subnet as your router, a mask of 255,255,255,0 and a gateway address coded as your router address.

It's saying IP not installed, so make sure it is for both devices.

Thanks for your reply.

Will try a few of those suggestions now and see how I go on.

Still seem to keep getting that message of:-

"Mobile Device Properties" - "The TCP/IP network transport is not installed".

Cheers

Forgot to mention already tried disabling the SS2 Card, even removing it physically from the system and still get the error.

Nope just tried the things suggested and still getting the error message about the "Mobile Device Properties - The TCP/IP network transport is not installed", this happens as soon as Win XP loads up, before I installed the SS2 I have never seem this message before.

Do you think its worth reinstalling Win XP over the top ?

Cheers

So is IP enabled for both devices? Do both devices have valid details?

If not, reinstall IP protocol from Win CD and set them up.
What does it say in the event logs?

Hi

In the event logs I found a warning under Event Viewer > System > DHCP, reads:-

"Your computer was unable to automatically configure the IP Parameters for the Network Card with the network address (Mac Address). The following error occured during configuration. The requested service provider could not be loaded or initialized."

I have set my Lan Card to IP 192.168.0.2, Subnet 255.255.255.0, default gateway to 192.168.0.1 and my SS2 to 192.168.238.238 with a Subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

Is there anything else I have missed ?

Cheers

Try setting your SS2 to 192.168.0.200 with a Subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, and turn off any DHCP servers you have running (i.e. on your router - do you have a web interface to configure it?).

The network address will tell you which card/device is having the problem (in searching for a DHCP server), so compare it to the mac address (in properties) for each device. I suspect that your PC almost 'hangs' for a couple of minutes when it boots too.
