I had a weird problem last night with the 7000S and 8GB SanDisk USB flash which has the /var and some recordings.
On switching the box, it hanged at the Gemini picture and wouldn't go through the initialization process.
Pulled the power cord and took out the USB, and it worked as usual.
Inserted the USB flash while box was on, did restart, but it hanged again.
Looks like I have to do the setup again and format the USB flash.
I want to copy the recordings to PC, will the PC recognize the USB flash or not?
Will check this out after work.

As long as its formatted in FAT32 it shouldnt be a problem.

Unfortunately the Dreambox formats it in ext3, but I was hoping to see the movies recordings in *.ts extension.
The PC didn't recognize it, so I have to forget about them and reformat the USB stick again.
From now on I will copy to PC anything important using FTP application.

Sorry compufunk, I take that back.

Did a reflash of the 7000S with Gemini 4.5.0 and after the setup and channel scanning was completed, I re-formatted the USB flash on PC to FAT32.
Inserted the USB flash into receiver, and used the option to move the /var to the the USB flash.
When it finished the installation, it announced that the USB has vFAT format.
Then selected to record to the USB instead of the HDD.
Recorded for few minutes, took out the USB flash and inserted in PC.
The PC recognized it and also the movie *.ts file.
I remembered then that when I did the previous installation, I formatted the USB flash in *.ext3 and then moved the /var to it.
OK, let's hope it stays stable, as I really love recording to the USB. It is so quite, smooth and clear picture without any picture jerking.

Well, I did it again :-doh!
I took the USB Flash out from the Dreambox 7000S, inserted it into the PC in order to copy a large recorded file in *.ts format. Just copy, no deletion or anything else.
But when I inserted the USB flash again into the receiver, I had the same weird problem as shown in post #1.
So it looks like the PC is causing some sort of a corruption to USB.
Looks like I have to reflash again tonight.

Could be a problem with the USB stick mate.

Maybe it is too big, try to make it into 2 bits :)

No. This happens only when I take it out and connect it to the PC.:)
Just finished a new setup and everything is back to normal.
