I'm still having problems acivating a Sky Freeview card "off-shore"
I rang Sky from a "hidden number" but unfortuatley the purchaser of the card was female & I am not (I'm doing this on her behalf)! Thier policy is only to deal with the subscriber.
So, I was wondering, as I understand that the official instalers activate cards by going through the hidden menu and the digibox sends the info via the modem, is there anyway I could do this from a non-UK phone ? I think I could get the box to ring the exta digits but will it work ?

Anyone out there tried it ???

You need a gadget called "dialer" to activate authorised SKY cards with modem.
Dialer is a little "box of tricks" that go between skybox and phone line.
You then go into installer"s setup menu and do a new installation...The "dialer" does all the necessary communication with SKY switchboard and activation signal is recieved through the modem..

Why not just get your wife/sister/daughter/next door neighbour to do the call?
That would be less painfull :-)

Thanks for all the suggestions (I think !)

Quickly passing the molegrips idea :), I might just try to lash up a dialler myself for curiosity. Finding a female to phone insn't as easy as it sounds as I am in France and surrounded by French women who don't speak english (I've left myself open for more jokes here, I'm sure).

;)

Speaking of diallers, have you had any trouble recently trying to activate new cards?
