V-Box

I have a Nokia 9800 which is controlled through a 1800 and ACU 8152.It all
works quite well together except that it is a bit of an exercise to access the digital
channels as compared to the analogue.
Vision International (www.satellite superstore.com) are advertising a V-Box
manufactured by Geotrack which purports to convert the four wires from the dish
to the DiSEqC format.Has anyone had any experience with this or any similar
system? If so do you think that it was worthwhile to have made the change.

Regards Bill.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

Dear Bill

I thought the box converted DiSEqC to four wire (similar to Aston unit)

If it is then its perfect for upgrading to a larger dish

Dear Channel Hopper,
Thanks for your reply.
Before I spend any money I was wondering if you or anyone in the Group
had bought a V-Box or the Aston that you suggested so they could advise
me how they compare with a conventional positioner. Is there a compromise
that has to be accepted if one changes to DiSEqc 1.2 ? Any information
regarding the advantages or disadvantages between the two systems
would be gratefully received.
Regards
Bill.

Hi there,

I have bought and am using the V-box with my Digiquest 2000 on an old syle actuator arm positioned dish, I can comfirm the V-box converts DiSEqC 1.2 commands, the input to the V-box is the LNB cable, the output is the LNB cable, plus four sprung terminals these are the 36v control to the acctuator arm plus the two returning sensor wires from the actuator. programming the unit is awkward but only needs to be done once.

Regards, Jeff...

Since you have the ACU 8152 I would stick with it until it blows up

No need to spend money uselessly, unless you are worried about using two remote controls
