Thanks for that, looks a bit tricky for me, so i'll order another one and then have a go and keep it as spare.

As you wish.
The things I looked up to and spent much time on to mentally prepare myself, in the end usually went easier than I imagined beforehand.
As you did the wire-changing and actuator-changing already, I guess you'll get the hang of soldering also.

Yeah, true. But I usually get the Soldering iron stuck to the board

Disconnect from the power and leave for at least an hour before taking apart.
It's OK, I've had electric shocks before :-doh :p

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!

Haven't we all!

Probably my "worst" was when I was just out of uni - 600V dc @1Amp (that's "really nasty"!) from a transmitter supply which put me (literally!) "on the floor"!
OTOH, a "tickle" from 230V ("ish"!) AC, or even 400V DC with limited current, is a relative "doddle"!! :)

There are very few models left, I have a Superjack V-Box II model, which works, but can be quite noisy, at times, producing a bit of a hum.
I even bought a spare, a few years back, just in case the occasional humming turns into something more serious.

Is the humming normal behaviour, if I buy another brand would I get no humming?

Humming will be the cheap transformer used inside. It will vary more from unit to unit rather than one model to another.

Sounds like it's time for someone to come up with a kit of parts so that people can build their own boxes.

My way around the humming was to remove the transformer from the V-Box case, and build it into a new plastic box with a long cable with a multi plug attached.

It maybe didn’t stop the humming but I no longer can hear it
