Hi folks.

i'm quite new to all this satellite stuff and was hoping someone here could shed some advice.

I have read that there are cicam's available such as matrix, magic etc, etc.

Do these things have the encryption built in so that you don't need a smartcard or do you have to also obtain a viewing card from somewhere to view the channels?.

I want to view the channels on the thor 1.0w satellite and i have read that it uses the conex system.
what do i need to view these channels.

Hope someone here answers.
Cheers.

My Satellite Setup
Protek 9750 HD IP, Spiderbox 9000HD. Cryptik Digital H-H Mount with1.2m Oval Dish and a box in the garage consisting of 2 obsolete STBs, various Cards and a couple of cams!
My Location
South East England
CAMs have to be programmed first to view channels.....but there are a lot of encrypted channels on Thor with using a Cam or fun card that you still wouldnt be able to watch! unless you subscribed to the channel operators

Thanks for your reply.

Ok does this mean that i cant just order a card from a dealer that will descramble straight away.
where would i start if i wanted to programme a card?.

Lastly but most importantly, if i get a card for conex what channels can i see.
Any ideas?
