That 1.2m motorised dish in my neighbours garden became mine this easter weekend during a clearout. Along with a Monterey 20 receiver. Dish is mounted on a solid tripod and there is a Chaparral LNB. Anyone have a clue how to connect the cables from Motor/LNB to the Monterey 20...Indeed is it worth it? I just want to learn a bit about this before I decide if it is for keeps.
Thanks.
Motor cable is 4 wire + a coax + a 3 way cable.

I admit to knowing nothing about Satellite systems..Yet.
Anyone know where to download a Monterey manual for this ancient model.

What happened to these UHF wireless remotes that flooded the market in the early 90's?

Are they not allowed anymore? i loved the UHF remote on my Monty when i sat downstairs to control the receiver.

I have a similar setup (got mine from new £3K) I upgraded to the 1.5m dish face later on put everything is most likely the same..

You will need to change the lnb, lnb holder. You will need to get a v-box and digital reciever to control the mount (assuming the motor mount still works)

Great kit in its day but needs updating...

Lnb cost >£14 for Inverto 0.3db (pretty nice lnb) from a magical satellite supplier
Precision Digial LNB holder (assuming its a PD dish) £34.00
V box <£50 or manual positioner >£20
Digital STB >£50

Forget the Monterey its not worth the electricity in powering up...

Put it on an auction site (make sure you get the postage correct - heavy reciever)

ATI make RF remotes for HTPC's or Media Centres (or whatever you want to use it with!!!), so they mustn't be illegal if they're allowed to sell them.... :)

Thanks for the pictures of the Monterey 40.My 20 is identical connections at the back so I guess you know how it all connects up? Motor connection is clear. I note the loop back. Now I need to figure out what colours my Echostar motor uses for Motor/ sensor and where the sensors goto.

If the motor mount is a chapparall where the wire attach to the block connector these are marked (from memory mine were + - 5v+ GRD ) Make sure you get it correct... You should see on the topmost case of the mount the 2 little manual limiters these knocl into micro switches inside

With your feedback and photos I am close to piecing together my connections.
If you could confirm that the Red White Black wires shown in the rear view picture are for the LNB Servo and the two black wires above are for the actuator motor sensor, then I think I am clear.

Which connection does a KU Wideband LNB connect to? V/A or H/B

Thanks.
