Vodafone targets 3G for 2004

Mobile phone giant Vodafone Group has suggested that it will not be launching a 3G service in Europe until the end of the 2004 financial year Announcing its annual results for the year ended March 31 2003, the company advised that 3G networks were being rolled out according to plan, with technical testing underway. According to Vodafone, "the availability of handsets remains a key issue and supplies of these are expected to be limited until 2004. " The subsequent availability of 3G services depends on when networks and handsets are of sufficient quality to offer such services to the group's customers. The results saw Vodafone post a better-than-expected 26 per cent rise in annual core earnings................
