Hi Guys,

Not been on for a while, been busy with work and other things, but My Wave T90 dish does need a clean as do the 13 lnbs on it!

OK the Vu+ Uno is single tuner and I have had it for about a good few years.

Thinking I need to get up with the times. My TV is Full HD and dont see the point of 4K, until eveyrthing is 4K!

I need twin model with the specs that can handle a 16/1 disEqc Switch, handle all those images and engima. The Uno did that fine.

If I can get Kodi onto it, then that's a huge bonus as I can then move the Shield to another room or lose the BT box as that's just costing me money, I only use that as a extra recording machine (BT price increase coming in April). Just the basic package.

So, I need some help to find a upgrade machine, not too fussed on the make and if its got triple tuner and not Vu+, i dont care, as long as I can get the 16/1 switch to work on the machine and it can hangle images/builds.

OR

I get a cheap twin upgrade tuner and swap the single tuner out (I think that about £50) and find a image that has kodi and new bits bits on it that will work on the Vu+ Uno I have.

I guess, I will defo need help with images, hell my blackhole image must be 2 years old!!

Any advice will be great.

Everything I've read on this says that Kodi does not work well on enigma2 boxes, even those with the latest fast processors.

People report it is easier to buy a cheap separate IP box - or something else that runs kodi seamlessly. If you go for that option the £50 twin tuner module upgrade to you Uno will give you a more than adequate twin tuner enigma2 box.

cheers BB, if i scrap the kodi and stick to the main sat box, i know its £50 for the tuner, the uno is old now, but i do worry if it packs in. wont a extra 50 odd quid buy one of these £100 boxes and do the same job.

Wondering if tech has moved on in the last few years for the smaller companies.

Totally unsure if much has changed or if it has it will be for the really expensive boxes.

I loved my Uno and other than the speed, I don't see what my Solo2 brings to my man-cave. Uno is also more sensitive than Solo2 - at least my single tuner one was.

So little in it for upgrades in tech, so would swapping the tuner to twin, would that change much in performance or will the speed decrease in switching channels etc.

Performance itself (i.e. UI responsiveness) is unlikely to change either way but I can't say whether the twin tuner is more or less sensitive than the single.

The VU+ Uno CPU is only 2 X 400 not powerful enough compared to the newer models.
Please check this specifications comparison table for all models
VU Plus
I have the VU+ Solo SE V2 with dual tuners and I am quite happy with it. Gets a bit too hot during the summer but a small fan cools it admirably.
It has Kodi and it works great.
I want to order the VU+ Ultimo 4K soon.
If you buy a new dual tuner (costs Euro 79 from Amazon Germany), you will be stuck with a single tuner that you will have as a spare.
Perhaps you can offer to sell your VU+ Uno and buy a newer more powerful model.
Good luck.

I better start checking the specs and see what's changed and see if the extra money is worth it. 16/1 switch started to play up and checked it over. Somehow its managed to get water into it from the downpours we had the other day.

Lets hope it will dry and work, if I unplug and dry it indoors!
