Popular entertainer Max Bygraves has died aged 89.

TV, radio, films, singer - he seemed to be ever-present in the 50's and 60's with TV shows like Family Fortunes, appearancies at the London Palladium, Singalongamax pop recordings.

Not being sniffy, but not really my cup of tea, although I remember he made a couple of decent films in the 50's against type.

RIP Max.

A consummate Entertainer, whatever one's taste: SWMBO has just told me that in her days as a Holiday Rep, she used to play Max to the elderly punters on the Coach on their way back from their rip-roaring evenings out.

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

That's a shame, I've been watching a lot of his Family Fortunes shows on Challenge recently, and he was pretty funny on that show (much better than Bob Monkhouse when he did it), more entertaining than some other presenters of the same show (like, say, Vernon Kay!!), a sad loss indeed...

I remember a strange programme in the 60s (?) where, with his real-life son Anthony (?) he went form town to town having some kind of adventure. The second half of the programme was more normal with singing and the like ISRT.

An amiable character but definitely an entertainer from/for a previous generation.

RIP Max.
