Step 4. Nothing should change by skewing the dish that can't be corrected by deskewing the LNB. If it requires azimuth adjustment something is wrong. Probably the central LNB is not dead central on the bar or the mast is not vertical.
Well, that's what I was thinking too. Why am I losing the central satellite when changing the skew of the dish? I change the skew from 90 degrees to around 100. At this point the central LNB moves to the right (standing behind the dish) ams the signal is lost. To get it back, I need to adjust the azimuth... The pole is dead vertical.

If I loosen my dish and change the skew there is change on the meter. If I skew it a lot the only change on the meter is being able to see the transponders from the opposite polarization.

Thanks I'll have to investigate some more once my hate for it subsides.

I want a T90 now :D

Although with the trees & hedges here I would actually need two to replicate the upper & lower garden dish clusters! :D

Some basic info from a witless experimenter, 1: planned which sats I needed, 2: set dish skew, 3: adjusted for center lnb. Info from here > SatLex Digital :: Technology :: Calculators :: WF Toroidal Calculator, 4: added lnb's and "they lived happily ever after".

Not expecting miracles out of it, and in practice using only a 24 deg arc, the sats I wanted coming in strong and stable. Getting a picture out of rail edges at 12.5w (weakish) and 28E (2e\f\g europe beam only), towards the edges levels are dropping. It's definitely not a replacement for some 150 cm motorised, but replaced several dishes here, incl a 90 cm motorized, gained instant channel switching \ recording possibilities between a bunch of sats.

And enjoyed all the work pleasure involved in installing and adjusting :O)

You're correct 4wd - it's not a replacement for a motorised 90cm dish (or a 150cm!). I am just a bit underwhelmed about the performance outside 10 degree range off-centre. It will probably be OK if I set the weak satellites at the centre but I lose others.

Oh well...

My impression, it roughly matches my old 90cm for 20 deg, then level rolloff intensifies along the rail length. Sorry for your 1W and 5E problem, here they burn through the dish ...but you don't have my 28e problem.

Very happy here with what the T90 can do, and what it can't is offloaded to other solutions.

Maybe someone will produce a T125 or T150, or a Visiosat BIGxxl Bisat :O)

Some SAT-related hardware.

N-E from Riga
In 2003, when they started to fabricate T55 and T90 they also had plans to make T120, but that never happened. But, we know from history, that Swedish company produced SMW-OA-1600 toroidal antennas. Those antennas work as 1m dish across 29*.
Of course, I do not mention professional (very cheap:rolleyes: ) antennas Torus 7m and 11m.

Only $134,000 for a Torus 7m... wonder why people dont buy that one instead of miserable t90 for $134 ?

I am not sure I'd be able to get planning permission for that. In fact, I am not sure if it would even fit in my garden!

Aligning that one would be fun*....

Not a problem here, I have the room, and as long as I cover it with grass plants ( you know what I mean ) the police wouldn´t ever notice.
( Nice new avatar by the way )

The t90 skew, have been testing a little, the SatLex given numbers (90.93° here) gives good results for the setup here.

Made some changes here. Moved the dish so that 1w and 5e are more or less in the centre. Signal is still not strong but is usable in dry weather. The arc is now 28E <> 5W. Can't quite reach 30W with it - needs a separate dish.

Signal is still not strong
For fringe\weak sats or all sats?

The t90 performs excellent for the use it's set to do here. For weak stuff (like 28e uk etc) it can't compete with the cm180, as expected...

Attached, some standard values for the main t90 sats in use here, always good reception and no readjusting for ages.

Good luck with the project.

Weak-ish on 5e/1w. All others ones are booming in, so can only blame the signal strength. 1W is comparable to what I had on the Penta 85cm.

Replaced the X11 LNB with an IBU for 5E and the signal has gone up slightly from 5.8 to 6.4dB on 11958H (the weakest TP for me). Which is fine for this time of the evening as that's when 5E is at its weakest overall.

On mine I've found anything more than about 40 degrees of arc and the dish performs crap. Mine is 26E-7W.

I was thinking of making a signal check on the satellites(from 42.0E-4/5W) I get with my toroidal(T90),installed almost 10 years ago( #70).For objective reasons I can not change anything at the antenna, because it is installed on a wall on the 3rd floor of a block where I have access only with a platform, which,in parenthesis be said,I have to say is very expensive for my budget. For the same reason I can't change the lnb for 13.0E-Hotbird because not working a polarity :(
When I installed it I used the Lnbs, most Strong and Alps.Of course I would change all the lnbs used then with InvertoBU outside the Alps to the positions where we have two degrees of distance between the satellites. And I'm convinced that I'd get better signal at some positions. But under such conditions and for almost 10 years,my toroidal still works well and I can have a useful signal on all the satellites(15) on the lnb bar besides Nilesat.
For those interested to compare the signal with TOROIDAL T90 they have, considering the area where it is installed, here is my report with the signal of each satellite that I'm picking up with my toroidal.I hope to be useful for those trying to install a toroidal.
BTW,I have a desire addressed to those who have toroidal and dvbs cards, namely,to post the results they get with the their T90 antenna.
I guess I don't have to say that my report is aimed at those interested in the signal and not tv programs.

Thanks.
