hi guys,
just a quick question,
if my dish, (photo to follow) cannot pick up higher end transponders on 13e, would it be a good idea to scan this area and tweak my fixed dish manually to possibly get a signal, or would this deteriorate the other transponders, the best i'm getting at the moment is approx 73%
cheers:-beer

sorry,
start again, iv'e just done a quick check and i am getting some strong signals (but def nothing above 12731 i wonder why:-doh!)
any way what i'm trying to say is some stong around 65-73% others very low 25-30% more often and not every other transponder, as i asked the question before would it be a good idea to scan a week signal transponder while tweaking my fixed dish (photo below)
cheers:-beer

I can't remember seeing a 'weak one' on 13E but yes it would be good to peak on one that you find lower than some others.

You should get these.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.
My Location

A trail off of higher frequencies is quite oftern down to a longr than normal cable run to the receiver, or a loose F connector at the dish end.

Other causes could be a failing tuner, or LNB

Here I find that 12015H is usually the weakest in the upper band, and this is fluctuating to the point where some signal strength means that the receiver no longer locks into the encrypted signals
Anyone else confirm ?

Well spotted CH it's 10-13% down on all else. SS1 seems to lock OK but don't have an ART card to see what's going on.

is there any way to boost the signal, like you can on normal terrestrial aerials

You can put in 'in line amplification' but this is only really used for runs in excess of 30-40 mtrs.
How long is your run?, doesn't look as long as that.

Did the tweaking not do any good then ?

sorry master,
i'm trying to do 3 jobs at once, (the other 2 are for the wife 2 keep her sweet ;)
any way i degress i would say the length is maybe 30mtrs if not more if u look at photo, feed from dish goes to the left hand gable end, through the loft to the other side at the front, my set up is at the front of the house on the right hand side so it is a fair distance, just going up ladder to tweak now

 sorry mr mod,
update,
ive done a bit of tweaking and there is a def improvement, but having said that i'm off to look at inline amps to see if this would be beneficial
cheers:-beer
ps is there a way of knowing instantly when someone has added to your thread instead of going back and two:confused

I was just wondering if the overhang of the roof plus the gutter is blocking off part of the signal to the upper portion of the dish? From the picture it seems that the top of the dish is rather close to the soffit or perhaps that is just the way that I view it. That is my 10p worth, but then I come from Silly Suffolk.:-bash

Yes, just tick subscribe to thread and allow E-mail notification on replies. :)

PS. Don't think that your setup is necessarily a candidate for a line amp, I would check the connectors as CH suggested.

PS. A bit of skew on the LNB would probably help as well.
