Does anyone have any recommendations for a web hosting site. It will be for a company placeholder page only and a single email address only,it must however not be plagued with any adverts so if necessary to avoid them can be paid for. I have been out of the game too long to be up to date so any recommendations would be welcome

I've been very happy with Domains, Hosting, and Cloud Servers, and SSL – LCN.com They deal with tech support queries very quickly and even have real techies answering the phone. There's a discount for a 5 year up-front payment and also free hosting for registered charities.
That reads like a commercial but I have no connection with them!

If you buy a domain URL from 123reg, you get free activation plus space for a couple of pages on their servers to host a holding page or two.

They also supply some basic templates and editing options even my neighbour (partially sighted and 81 years old) can work with.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
The variety of web hosting services is huge today. If you calculate the profits and costs, then this is a really very profitable business, but many prefer to work in an unscrupulous way of working ... This of course greatly undermines the credibility of such services. I wasted a lot of time looking for a reliable web hosting service and I was lucky to eventually stumble upon 28Mse. This service shows reviews of a large number of Web Host companies and you can choose the most reliable company for yourself. What do you think about this? Have you ever used A2 Hosting?
Personally, I suspect that this post is verging on spam, given that the thread is very old and the poster is a complete newbie to the forum.

If you just want a static site, open an account at AWS and upload your files to an S3 bucket with web hosting enabled on it. Then set up your domain in Route 53 and point it to that bucket. Costs very little and zero maintenance.
