My Satellite Setup
Maplins portable satellite set up. 39cm dish. Looking at astrasat 28.2 E
My Location
Brittany
When I point my satelite to astra 28.2E using an cheap beeper style sat-finder everything is hunkydory - the works.

Take the sat-finder out of the circuit & reconnect & I lose the picture.

I thought I might have moved the dish, so put the sat finder back in - and the signal is back ?

Any thoughts - I'm guessing that the coax cable to the lnb might be making a good connection in the finder, but a poor on in the lnb.

Or, does the finder have a little amp in there ?

Cheers

Kevin

Could be connections, but are you sure you have found the correct satellite?

Make the centre core a little longer on the connection, it may be that it isn't quite making a connection in the LNB, but is OK in the meter.

It has got to be a connection problem then. Remake the connection as suggested above.

Based upon your latest statement that you are happy with the channels coming in on 28.2 East surely this confilcts with your original post.

What channels with pictures are you actually receiving??

He's only happy with the channels when the meter is attached.

The meter actually reduces signal, so if it's not a connection problem, could it be that without the meter you are getting swamped with signal ( wish I was ...).

I've just read your setup again ... and I don't think too much signal is the problem.

Went to Brico-Depot in Rennes ( Grand Quartier - St Malo exit on ring road ) , got the 35 Euros ( thats 28 quid ) - Satellite set - 80cm dish & SL1 receiver, lost the receiver - used an existing SL65 and everything is now fine.

I'll google to see what the SL1 is good for as I couldnt get diddly out of it.

regards
