I receive 75% currently on sirius with my 500s and 1.1 triax. What improvement should i expect with a 1.5m dish? 5%? 10%?

If you recieve 75% on sirius and you are useing a dm500s, then I don't realy understand why you want a bigger dish. But back to the question, you probably won't get more than 84-85% on sirius regardless.

Used the 75% as an example. So you reckon the difference should be around 10%. Should be good enough for me

When you say feed what you mean?

I want it for Sirius difficult frequencies which currently i hardly get with break up some times of the day. I highly doubt a gibi 125cm would suffice. Also i wanna use a 2nd lnb for thor.

Sirius 'difficult' frequencies is a bit vague really. By feed I mean LNB and / or feedhorn combo.

I don't remember recommending a 125cm Gibertini in this thread.

For example Viasat sport 1.

For Lnb i'll be using a sharp 0.3 BS1R6EL100W which is very sensitive or the MTI 0.2 white line

I think with even a good 1.5mtr dish 11977V will still be out of reach. Be nice to see though.

Considering that I do get marginally some signal some times of the day with my current 1.1 i believe that a gibbi 1.6m should receive it 24/7.
At times the signal gets very low 64-68% which is unplayable for the 500s. Only 73%+ opens the channel. 1.6m is the last dish I will try and then if nothing i shall simply give up all efforts:(
Sure there is always the cheap Fortec Star 2.4m but my neighbours would have something to say about it ;)

Can you tell me what signal you receive with your 125cm gibbi on that frequency?

When I get the dish i'll make a separate thread as there are many who struggle with Sirius in London.

Nothing at all here on that transponder not even a blip, which is why I thought that a 150cm might be on the small side.

This is all I get from Sirius.

where is the dish going ? as you might need a larger dish like a 1.8m prodelin as the signal for 5east nordic beam is quite weak as i dont get it on my system being further to the footprint

best ask a member like rd100, which has a 1.8m prodelin dish to see if they can get it

Hi Cheekykid.
I think that you need to move further east for that transponder.
I'm with my daughter in Ilford, my 1m Gibertini dish is fixed temp. on a fence post and receiver is a TM5000. Pic shows the strength and quality for the transponder in question.
I have been watching the City7 channel from Nilesat this morning, rock steady picture at 70strength and 24quality. Hence the 5east transponder, if it was de-scrambled, would be fine.
cheers PR

Don't forget that the technomate receivers have much better tuners than the sharp ones. I've been told that technomates give 7-8% more than other receivers. Also I can't believe how much the signal falls in London.
