Hello all,

Can anybody explain to me what is an FSS Beam? From Lyngsat.com on the Sirius 2 satellite I have noticed that under "beam" there are 2 types: BSS and FSS. I can open all the F-T-A channels that have BSS beam, but I can not open the FSS ones even though they are F-T-A too.

thanks,
krassi

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

FSS stands for fixed satellite services. These beams from Sirius are broadly directed into Northern Europe, resulting in a weaker signal in the areas further South , including Cyprus

BSS I thought stood for Boeing Satellite Systems , I am not sure what it means when used to describe footprints. I would guess that BSS would be a wider beam signal, giving greater coverage on the ground, albeit at a lower power, ensuring you can receive the signals broadcast on these transponders
