Home of the Technomate patch I believe. :)

The forums have been through this before, so I'm sure they will recover. :)

One thing that strikes me is the boards under attack seem to be the ones that host / have hosted the files & patches. Which shows the sense in our "no files" rules.

I guess the attacker(s) don't want those file to be made public..
Only thing I can come up with is paytv company's
But who has such power to take down all those websites?
NDS? DTV?

Dudez is down due to a DoS (Denial of Service) attack. We're being bombarded from every direction man.
Toecutter's & Fookfiles are also down. Both Toes & Fook started getting DoSed from the 24/25th. The attack only started on satdudez this morning 26th September.

alsat is down now also

These attacks eventually sort themselves out. It would appear that certain counter measures are in place here at Sats Uk - good :)

With three plus Sat boards down this looks very much like a SYN Flood attack, which exploits the TCP standard 3-way handshake protocol. The attacker initiates a connect request to the server and then ignores the acknowledgement (ACK). This forces the server to wait for the ACK from the attacker, wasting time and resources. A server can at any given time only process a fixed number of requests and so this form of attack can effectively block all legitimate traffic. Thee and me :( in this case.

We've seen it be4, and certainly not for the last time as well.
If it is orchestrated from certain groups, they hired an pro, to do illegal acts.

Pro's have way's to be undetected, only certain governmental groups will know who did this if they want to know.

For the rest, The Den etc, will be back ;)

Cheers,

Cor

Because some have taken various counter measures, then it becomes a tug of war hoping the server can withstand the onslaught :(

PS - these things also happen on highly respected computer boards too.

Too much worry and paranoia guys !!!!!
As always happens with outages. (who remembers the last one with all the (alledged) international busts etc). There MAY have been a guy trying to make a name / or get his own back for being excluded.

I'm sure normal service will resume ASAP.
