OpenBox X5 on a 1 meter motorized dish.
And now a 10 foot "C" band dish.

Look like it needs to be higher up, those trees look to be in-line with it, and it's too close to the satellite dishes and other antennas.

The higher a TV antenna is the better it will work.

And don't beleave those adds about a 150 mile TV antenna, there is NO SUCH THING...(not for direct line of sight that is)

And if you ever need to replace it, then try this hummer...

Looks like a
TRIAX LTE Unix 52 Element High Gain TV Aerial Group T Channels 21-60

Thanks, will check the specifications in a moment, though I can't see how they got to count up 52 elements. it's not one of mine by the way.

Edit, the UNIX has aluminium plates for the elements as opposed to the bars on this one. Plus the rear shield has four equally spaced bars top and bottom.

It does give me something to check approximate specifications with though

It's a Blake DMX 52. Not bad high gain aerials, not used one in a while.

Advertising an aerial with a mileage is a bizarre uniquely American practise where presumably there is no equivalent to our advertising standards authority, over here they'd smell the BS within seconds.

Thanks, just what I needed. Gain of around 12dB on specification but the wideband bit is going to be an issue.

I'm using a longer, band restrictive antenna on a new job to satisfy a long term , zero upgrade requirement, where there is no direct view of the transmitter. A bit of tweaking next week should have it running nicely.

Better off using band pass filters with a wideband aerial, as depending on which transmitter you are aiming for, some multiplexes will be moved out of band in readiness for 700 mhz band clearance.

The Triax I'm using has a roll off built in at around 610MHz (Channel 37) so it's all good for the next two stages.

Depends which transmitter, as Crystal Palace will be moving mutliplexes 7 and 8 up into the fifties prior to full clearance.

The antenna i'm talking about comes from China, and is marketed by China, I guess that they have some type of special metal that it's made from that bends radio waves down to it.

It is Cystal Palace, and the two muxes are currently at a fifth of the power of 1-6, and I believe unwanted, the site already has a satellite system in place collecting signals from Astra 2, 13E and a fully steerable antenna.

What is to be the final resting place of 7 and 8 (and I suspect another carrying London Live) once the 600 is in place ?

Not sure, they may even disappear, Digital UK weren't sure, but now recommend wideband aerials for all jobs, something I've been doing for years.

It is strange, but not unexpected that they recommend an antenna upgrade that in under two years time may require a return / additional components at a number of locations.

They also suggested a flat rate for the install (£50 ) of a new aerial if I remember.

Not that I've heard, wouldn't get the ladders off the van for £50. :)

Ah, it may have been a price for the elderly, or possibly repointing an older aerial, but with corrosion of clamps/masts and the cable itself, only once an inspection on the roof or chimney is carried out would one know what can be done without replacing kit.
