New to the satellite game,

Just came back from holiday and would like a satellite system that will provide english / scottish football on a sat afternoon. Can anyone tell me what I need and where I can buy.

Thank you in advance.

I will take the lack of response as confirmation nobody on here knows the answer to my question.

If anybody can give me info please feel free to answer.

Thats a question thats going to be hard for anyone to answer, What channels are you after?

Either you go for a Sly subscription, or start reading about card sharing. Sorry, but I cant give you all the details in one post.

I suggest you read up on Dreamboxes and their capabilities.

I'm curious. Why did coming back from holiday prompt this thought of watching football on a Saturday afternoon? Did you see football in a bar on holiday or something like that?

In the UK, as I understand it, football is mostly sown up by $ly with the rest bought up by Setanta. Easiest answer is pay a sub to both I suppose - I don't know as I don't like football.

Firstly your request is rather vague...
The other reason nobody is answering is because it is still June and the allocations for next season have not been made or advertised thus apart from the aforementioned two providers it is still unclear which European providers will be showing English premiership football (do any show Scottish football?). Lastly this is a self help forum where what you are interested in you go and read about, for example this thread in the appropriate forum

Sky will not be your answer then because as far as I know they do not show live matches at 3.00pm on a Saturday thus you will have to wait a few more weeks until the situation with foreign providers is clearer, also there is the legal wranglings to content with which may affect who shows what.

Hi,

I don't watch football either, but I was under the impression that DigitAlB on 16E had the rights to Premiereship games for a couple more years yet.
Probably a 1m dish needed in Scotland.

Also a football site here:-

That was in 2003!! hink things might have moved on since then!!!

You asked about SPL football, Setanta entered the market place to satisfy that need.... are you suggesting they no longer fulfill those needs or are you just complaining that there is no up to date information?

The options for watching football are:

1. Buy the official subscription card and receiver.
2. Buy a Dreambox, install a key updater and rely on what can be viewed on the day.
3. Buy a Dreambox and a subscription card.
4. Buy a Dreambox and join a card sharing ring.

For options 2-4 buy a motor and as big a dish as you're allowed to fit (at least 1m).

For option 2 only, one of the many 'updateable' receivers eg a Technomate, could be used instead of a Dreambox as an alternative cheaper option.:)
