What's the best way to cancel a Sky TV contract?

HI ALL!

Happy New Year to everyone

Right, now down to the main topic of cancelling Sky. At the end of January 2015 I'll be pulling the plug on Sky permanently as most stuff I watch or record is on FTA channels. What is the best way to cancel? I'm sure some kind soul out there will tell me.

Last I heard the only way to cancel is to ring them. You will be put through to retentions & offered various sweeteners to stay. Be determined if you do indeed intend to cancel

Yeah, as far as I know the only way is to call. I cancelled an account just before Christmas so it should end mid January with the 30 day notice. I was impressed that they didn't argue or mess about, just said thanks and goodbye. No offers or anything. Just as well as I wasn't going to stay anyway and it was all done in 30 seconds! (I checked the account on MySky too to check it was cancelled)

It looks like I'll have to make a phone call at the end of January just after American Horror Story ends. The clock is ticking Mr Murdoch and I won't be rail-roaded into any new deals you may come up with either!

Get a relative to ring them, saying that you died. There will be less chance they will put them through to retentions.

Well you have to give them 30 day notice as timo as stated.

You could just stop paying them, that usually works quite well

Tell them you're emigrating soon

......or tell them you have emigrated and want to know if it's ok to continue your subscription from Spain/France/Italy etc.....people here find that works quite well....

I certainly had some laughs at the far-out suggestions guys! Brilliant, I have to say. I'll just be truthful and tell them I can watch stuff for free due to having a motorised dish.
