Hello!
i try to receive in thailand,a indonesian sattelite, that transmit in the sband in 2,5 ghz range!
in Asia!
i still have the sband lnb,you see on the picture,but finding a 2.2 ghz to 2.5 ghz reflector,with a n connector,on picture 2,seem to be a imposible mission!
i contacted many atv dealers in germany but no one have this item in stock!
if i understand right the lof is 3650 around, when the freqency is low,and i would find the reflector, the chance are high because of low freqency,to receive the this satellites withouth a dish!
the connection cable between ,should be very shourt, otherwise i think i loose to much signal
thanks for your input!:)

Do you mean a parabolic reflector IE a dish or a passive element reflector for the yagi? Curious looking thing that is, slot tuned dipole with a reflector on what I'm sure can't be an SO239 socket! Maye you could try dealers in the Middle East, I think Arabsat has S band capability?

Got to ne an N type surely? Could be either 50ohm or 75ohm as well I think.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

That dipole would normally have had a sub reflector of about 15cms diameter attached to the back of it, which has the mounting points for any parabolic reflector. I probably have a couple lying round here as many were modifed for use inside a tin can for better directionability on terrestrial links.

I'd have thought so but it doesn't look exactly like an N, closest match is a bulkhead socket but I've not seen one with that length of thread and that doesn't have a slighter smaller diameter end.

All S band equipment that I saw in the early 90's had 75 Ohm N connectors on them, and I'm sure the Chaparral equipment used the same.

I still have a couple of N to F adapters in a box which would have been 75Ohm through them. The SO239 is used for lower frequency stuff - CB radio and the Motorola taxicab stuff.

Btw this was the link I wanted to post earlier about home made stuff

Hmm..
Interesting stuff ..
Probably not relevant ..but thought you guys might like to see the Cantenna I made some years ago when experimenting with a wireless link between my home and my shop...
Highly directional and very exclusive.
..and no I didn't do the welding on the backplate ..but did do the grinding down and everything else after the back plate was fitted..
Nice n solid in steel.

...I'd have been very interested to try this with an LNC with the Cantenna at the focus of Christina ...and probably would have gone to the expense already of importing an LNC ...but as far as I know there is nothing on the visible arc in my part of the world...Sband-wise.
..Or am I wrong in this assumption ?

We've experimented with a variation on the cantenna as well Evan using the tried and tested Pringle cans. Managed 7KM on 2.4 using nothing more than a Netgear router modified with an N socket and a PCI wireless card.

If you're in Bangkok try Ban Mo. There's plenty of satellite and electronics gear around the area. You should find what you're looking for.
