I haven’t seen this one in any world travel kits, it was in a box with a modem.

Did some searches yesterday and it looks like it might be North Korean, most of the other old ones only have three pins or look nothing like that.

Anyone have any other ideas about where it is for? Or if they still use them? I very much doubt it, the thing is nearly the size of a UK mains plug!

I’ll add it to my collection of things to be kept, in case I need them one day...

Wouldnt like to tread on that in the dark

The Italian telcos used to have huge adapters on apartment walls, but I think they were three pin

That is indeed it lazydave!

The idea of having a North Korean phone adaptor was quite amusing, not that I have anything against the Netherlands, it just doesn’t seem quite as far fetched, oh well.

Either way the thing is almost scary, the pins on it are the same thickness as the pins on the plugs here in Spain that are rated at 10 Amp!

If I saw a socket for one of those in a room and nobody had said what it was for I think I would stick a multimeter in it before deciding to plug a modem or phone in.

I always thought the French phone plug was the weirdest. Definitely designed by a committee. :p
