Ready to do my install but wanted some advise before I start.

I have a timber framed house, the bottom half faced with bricks and the top with concrete. I have a 18” T & K to mount with a 1.5m pole. I want to mount this as close to the top of my south facing wall as I can but I am concerned as this will be right above my neighbours back door.

What would be the best fixings I could use and should I put in some kind of safety device just in case. There are really no other location options due to trees etc.

Thanks in advance.

Some photographs with intended location marked on them would be a great help here as people visualise things differently.

Sorry the rain was just too bad last night.

Here are the pictures of the install site.

Any advice on attachment of the T & K would be appreciated.

It has been suggested that I use chemical bolts. Would this be better than coach bolts or rawl bolts?

It was also suggested I could add a safety line? Just in case it works loose?

Anyone have any experience of chemical bolts?

I'd go for good old steel if you have the chance.

Also if you can - go for two K's rather than a T and a K
That should make sure.

Problem is what's underneath the render, you could find that it is a low density thermalite block, or even mortar if you hit the wrong place, so you may have a couple of abortive drill holes.

You could use fischer bolts, reasonable price, particularly if you use a couple of pairs of T&Ks.

Thanks for the suggestions. If I were to use fischer bolts or any other fixing what size, M8, M10 and what depth should the holes be?

For reference my pole is aluminum, dish (Triax TD88) and the motor is a SM3D12 DiSEqC.

You have to beware with the self tapping wall bolts like thunderbolts, they do not work well in all brick and can simply spin when tightened, they are unlikely to be the correct fixing for the rendered wall above.

I have on occasions had to use 10mm threaded rod and bolt right through the cavity for heavy dishes, or where is was impossible to get adequate fixing in the external wall..

I went with Chemical Bolts in the end, 5 in total, care taken not to drill right through. They are strong enough to support my weight, although I did not hang on the K mount for very long! ;) . Very easy to use as I went with the glass capsules rather than the tube. As of now I would recommend.

I'll let you know if they do rip out.:D
