I've got a few E2 boxes but looking to get a nice new one,
the Mutant HD51 is at the top of the list so far and ticks a lot of boxes.
However, one important feature I want is to be able to use a E2 box without "StreamRelay"
I know the HD51 can do this but not sure about any others.
The DM800HD is supposed to but can't get it to work, I was going to order the Octagon SF4008 but that can't do it.

One thing I just noticed is my Miraclebox Micro Premium has blind scan, takes forever though!

I will likely put my HD51 up for sale soon if you can wait a week or so...? It has 2x DVB-S2X tuners in it, which are nice and sensitive. However, the bug in long time locking the signal after the dish moves from one satellite to another is very annoying and is the reason that I want to replace it (with Dreambox 900).

Oh, I have this bug on the Miraclebox! at least I think its the same one, sometimes when I move it, it won't get a lock even though the dish is in the right position as I plug this in to another box without moving it and its in the right place, a reboot fixes it.
I thought it was a power issues, so I turned on some power settings and dropped the speed and seems to have helped. These only have 400ma output on the LNB connector.

Well I can't order anything till the snow clears, will be interesting to know what you're asking?
Also I'm looking at the DM900/920 but can't find a UK supplier.

The bug is not as bad here. It just takes about 40 seconds to get a lock on a satellite after the motor has landed on it. The further apart the two satellites are the longer the delay. You can speed it up by changing channels or just wait... But it's annoying.

I won't be far off the new price, since the box still *is* new (about 2 months old) and still has a warranty with WOS.

I haven't found a supplier DM either so will probably get it from one of the German ones.

That sounds suspiciously to me like a thermal fuse cooling down for the LNB power or some electronic current limit/cut off!, put a sat meter inline or a multimeter and see if it turns off LNB power after a long drive.

Or as soon as the dish stops and the no tune thing happens, try send it to another position, see if it actually moves.

If the dish does move, check your rotation settings, you might have it set to the wrong speed and it's waiting for the dish to land even though it already has... Not an issue with my Stab HH100 as thats not as quick as say a TM2600/Darkmotor.

Won't be anything to do with that since all it does is send the DiSEqC commands to the Vbox which does all the hard work (no DiSEqC motor will drive a 1.8m dish!). There's no load on the tuner at all during moving.

It's purely a driver issue.

Ah, I didn't know you had a Vbox.

Well it sounds like yours is doing the same as my Miraclebox, just tested it with a multimeter.
What image and what speeds are your motors, there is a section to put what speeds they are so it knows roughly how long it will take before delaying a tune.

Wow, these Old Dreamboxes just won't die, I had a mess around with the DM800HD, patched a few things and put a newer image on, manually installed something and no "StreamRelay" needed. Incredible this box still does things that some much more powerful ones wont.

Can any of these Vbox things or similar control a Diseqc motor over coax?

The point of the Vbox is to convert DiSEqC commands from the receiver to select a corresponding stored pulse count position on the Vbox to drive a 36v motor. It's not designed to drive a DiSEqC motor over coax - they are separate systems.

Regarding motor settings, I didn't change them from default as I never needed to with other E2 receivers. Apparently very old images for this receiver don't have this problem but the driver in those images don't work with the new Silabs tuners.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!

That's not what they are designed for, which is to drive a 36V H-H motor or actuator from the output of a DiSeQc sat receiver, and so they can't drive a DiSeQC motor - on the contrary, they'd probably burn that out!

Could it be the one I sold him a couple of years ago???
Possibly! I have a few and not sure where I got each one. One is a Jaegar branded and the other is Alsat Gbox with the blue buttons.

I know what they are used for, just wondering if there is anything out there to drive a Diseqc motor other than a sat box, I have a project in mind :)

IIRC the one I sold you was branded Superjack.

There is a standalone black box available (and I think I have it in my bits box) which can be used to drive these motors along with mini DiSEqC drivers that simply sit on the coax run.

Yep, that's used for the declination jack.

Be nice if I could find something with RS232 or Ethernet and basic 4 line hd44780 type display I can use for just controlling motors. And be able to spin the dish from any room. Also not having the lnb pass through the motor will be slightly less signal degradation. I might knock something up with an Arduino.

Nothing like that but you can take any old E2 (or even E1) receiver and do that. Nowhere near as fun making your own interface, though.

In fact, there was a link somewhere to a guy programming his own IC to interpret the commands and display them on a VFD display. On the phone now so don't have the link but can look on Monday if you don't find it.

Yeah half tempted to buy a couple of those Freesat V7 Boxes, need one for the bedroom anyway.
But yes you're right much more fun knocking something up! I'll have a google and I'd appreciate that if I don't find it Monday cheers :)
