I just use the SVideo out skt and a small lead wihch gives Vid & L/R Audio

SS2 is your best bet unless you want to spend £180 on a proper SS1 with Vid Aud out, I have one of these and can recommend them as they have onboard decoding which takes the load off the processor.

But the SS2 with a fair graphics card will do pretty much the same.

This is by no means the only place, but you could start

(yes the CI version is not a proper SS1 with HW decoding)

hello,
At present technotrend is producing two premium models with onboard
mpeg2 decoders namley skystar1 1.3 and skystar1 s-2300 models.
For more information visit www.dvbshop.net
Technisat skystar1 ci doesn't posses onboard mpeg2 decoder. It is a clone of twinhan 1030 ci.

Skystars with hardware decoding will not decode 422 feeds I think.

You will be decoding 422 which is like HDTV. You need a Pentium 4 2.8ghz
or by an HDTV card or grahpics card which can do some of the work for
you.

Try reading this site.

My SS1 does from ProgDVB when set to soft mode.

Whether it is taking some load from the PC CPU I couldn't say, but only see about 5-15% CPU useage from a 3.4 P4 while in this mode.

thanks for the replies,
the pc card will be mainly for the 422 feeds as my receivers
do the rest.
i have found 2 models which i think will be ok
technotrend s-1300 for 85 pounds and
the technisat skystar 1 1.3 for 100 pounds.
but as lancelot says he can get the 422 feeds with his skystar 1 1.3
i think i will order this one.
cheers.

@ lancelot,
could you tell me if your ss1 will pick up feeds
with a symbol rate of less than 8000,as ive just
been on another site and somebody says that the
ss1 is no good for feeds under 8000.ive noticed that a lot of
the footie feeds on 16e are around 6000.
cheers.

I have used a Nexus-S for years with no problems,it is almost like the SS-1 card I hear.Nice video and sound out RCA jacks goes to RF modulator for the whole house + and S video if I need it too. SS-1 or Nexus-S and you would be happy with it.
