Am having a small problem re-setting my dish using USALS.

I live in South Ockendon, Essex, and my postcode is RM15 5AQ, if you want to send birthday, Christmas cards or money will supply number. :D

Now when I try to find out my latitude and longitude usals says 51.5n, 0.3e.
Google says 51.3n, 0.1e, and Heavens Above says 51.5n, 0.2e.

I'm using the Google figure at the moment as that was gained by using the post code, but is that right ? :confused

If we are speaking of such small differences, then it really doesn't matter, as the adjustment on the motor body is nowhere near that accurate.

@sonic1. sorry, removed the attachment, have seen the document and it is not an installation guide, it is copied from other guides, it only gives partial information (some of which can be misleading) and it is a blatant attempt by the author to increase his satellite shop site traffic.

Morning Rolf, That's what I thought at first, but trying the different figures makes my dish go to the sat in question and after about 3-5 seconds (which is a reasonable amount of time) the dish then moves off the sat.
I tried to ajust my dish yesterday with mixed results, but I need to do it again as it is still not right,(will have to be after the Fulham game at 1pm).

It's the longitude that worries me as the different of 0.2 seems to be about 12 miles, it's just that I want to know where to start from with lat & long before I move the dish again. :)

The other way around this is either find the longitude using google maps, or perhaps a GPS unit, alternatively, don't use USALS. :)

Little choice I'm afraid Rolf, DiSEqC 1.2 not working and also the lack of markings on my satellite dish doesn't help.

Still these things are sent to try us. :D

Surely if USALS is working, so should 1.2?

You would think so Rolf but it's not (anyway that's another story).

Reset my dish yesterday and it's still not right because I can only get every satellite from 39e to 22w (allowing for my dish size), and I should be getting all sats from 53e to 45w, also Thor is a bit if-e.
Will try again next weekend when I have more time, mind you tonight when wife vacates television will try different long & lat settings to see what happens.

Lat-Long:
pixel.gif
51° 30' , 0° 17' 51.516 , 0.284

I live near a small airfield so I use their coordinates as a reference if this helps. The exact coords. for all world airports are listed on the web

Have to agree Rolf as I have found my problem (I hope) and it's that the motor settings are miles out, just don't know how I ba**s it up so bad.
It's a wonder I'm getting anything at all.:-ohmy

O well will reset dish Saturday morning, and this time I will follow the instructions instead of guessing. :-bash
