which meter reading is correct

hi to all,ive just purchased a digisat lcd meter (going to try and set the arc better).the problem is that when i use the receivers on screen signal meter(technomate tm5500).the strongest meter reading is in a different position than when using the digisat meter...which should i believe ,once again thanx in advance

To be honest, it doesn't really matter. None of them are accurate anyway.

Just focus on maximising the signal and you won't go far wrong.

The meter in the sat-box is good for comparing various sats/transponders etc relative to one another, but you can't really compare the values to any other make of box.

That's my experience anyway.

thanx BGonaSTICK its just strange that i maximise the signal with the sat box but to get maximum signal with the digisat meter i have to adjust dish position slightly anyone else had same exprience cheers

hi iwol,
i have a TM5500 dapci,and digisat lcd meter.
are you using the same transponder when tuning
in on your sat meter and receiver meter?
say for instance you have selected sky news(astra2)
from your channel list,when you are using your sat
meter ,you are tuning in to this transponder.
if then you go into auto search on your receiver
the signal bar shows you the signal of the first
tranponder listed at the top of your screen.,
which is probably different to the one used on
your sat meter.
just an idea,don¨t know if you¨ve tried it yet.

I don't think that the meter measures an individual channel, purely a polarity, as the Digisat Pro can work under its own power and has no frequency option. That would account for the discrepency.
