The eBay thing is a scam. Trust me.

FTA digital can deliver some good sporting viewing on both Astra 19.2E and Hotbird 13E or both if you buy a special 'monoblock' LNB. This however does not include any Premiership footy. If you are a bad-boy, you can also get pay channels with a further investment of time and money, but only if you're looking for a new hobby!

Hi coloureye,

You've done the hardest part in getting your dish up and running on three sats. All of the answers to your questions are here on the board, but I know it can appear totally confusing to start with.

I'll get you started, and then perhaps you can do some more reading. We find generally that it can take the beginner several weeks of reading before they are ready to take the first step into opening encrypted channels.

Basically there are four main ways to go when decrypting pay-TV channels and they all depend on your receiving equipment.

A PC card is the simplest. Plug it in your PC, load drivers, load viewing software, install 'plugins', get and install keys, watch TV.

Patched receivers - grab a 'patched image' for your specific (compatable!) hardware, load it from your PC, punch in the latest keys and off you go. Not all receivers of the same make and model are the same. Some are not patchable, and some may also need hardware 'tweaks'.

'Specialist' STB's like the Dreambox, Triple Dragon etc. Almost identical to a PC, but in an STB case.

STB's with CI slots for CAMs and cards. Choose and buy your STB (CAREFULLY!), pick a compatable CAM (based on others experience - lots of reading required potentially), buy a card which will hold the software that you require to open the packages you want, and add a programmer that will program it.
You will then need to really understand which files you want, and from where they come, how to program them (how to use your programer) and how to regularly update the keys.
Some CAM's don't need cards for some bouquets. You program the CAM itself.

I don't know anything about options 2 and 4, as they don't really interest me, but there are plenty here who do and plenty of posts you can read.

HTH!

There tend to be guides at the top of each section. Check them out.
Just reading lots of threads will add to your knowledge. Then come back and ask some more questions!

Don't forget, that if you 'go beyond' FTA, then there is a LOT of work to be done, and that means hitting the 'textbooks'! It's the difference between watching some TV and taking up a new hobby.
