picking up hotbird channels on astra 1

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hello,
tuning in my mates system TM dapci 5500.
moving the dish to what i think is hotbird.got a good signal
on my digisat meter.select sat hotbird,go into auto-search,
satellite-hotbird,scroll down,network search on,select all, do my
channel search-nothing.
still in auto-search,(without moving the dish )select sat astra 1,(thinking i must be on this satellite )scroll down, network search on,
select all,do my channel search.normally i get about 600 channels,but
this time only 200 and most of these from sly italian package which is
on hotbird.confusing.so i recheck everything thinking i¨ve made a
mistake but still the same.do you think i¨m picking up a sat west of
hotbird.any ideas please.trying again thursday evening.before i move
the dish i would just like to know which sat i¨m on as it is such a
strong signal.thanks.

You could be possibly pointing at Eutelsat 16e which is between Astra 19.2e and Hotbird 13e.

What channels are coming up??

hi razor,
as i have this system myself and am mainly on hotbird,
most, if not all the channels which came through on the search
was from the sly italia package, sly sports 1,2+3.sly cinema, prima fila.
cut back the sat cable and refitted the f-connectors,and there is a new
lnb,think goldstar 0.3.
i know astra 1 probably has some of the same transponders as hotbird,
but why did the astra 1 search pick up the hotbird channels, and the
hotbird search didn¨t pick up 1 channel (without the dish being moved).
going to check my mates box on my motorised system tonight to make
sure everything is ok.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

An auro search will usually allow the receiver to pick up channels that have been networked. If the first transponder received does not match up with any of the preset memory frequencies in the receiver however, the scan will not find anything.

More upmarket receivers will have a better method of scanning from memory

It does sound like you are aimed at 13E.

hi razor,
i¨m setting the system up on a flat roof, and the neighbours 2 dishes
are about 5 feet away.they are pointing at hotbird and astra 1. i¨m
pointing in the same direction as them,so i must be pretty close to one of them.
going to give it another go tomorrow evening, hopefully i shouldn¨t have much
problem.
thanks razor+nismo 400r
