Tomorrow i'm setting up a motorised dish for a friend. I set my dish up at 5w as I am in the west of Ireland but the problem is it tracks from about 45w right around to astra 2 then drifts of, so I obviously haven't it set up at the right sat to begin with.

He lives slap bang right in the middle of Northern Ireland. Any ideas?

5W sounds reasonable. Good signal there too. Reality is probably nearer 7W.

Your own dish tracking problems could be due to any number of small or indeed compounded angular or pole mount discrepancies. Go back and check everything with a fine tooth comb and you should get the whole sky. Try and get hold of a digital inclinometer if you want to get it spot on.
