Moves to a new house recently, but still in Scotland. I took my Fibo 1.2m with me. I lost some eastern ark but got a better signal on about the 45 east part of the arc. I also now have better coverage on the western ark. I can confirm signal from 53 east and from 45 west. I have a blockage at 8 west due to an amateur radio mast in the next garden. The owner kindly cut down his holy tree which allowed Hispatat to come through loud and clear! I can probably go further to the west but don't have a satellite to check. East is blocked by a roof top so I think I may be at my limit there now.

Thank you for your contribution, I will add it to this evenings updated version of the table.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Nothing much to "shout about" but, Ku band only,: 45W (Chinasat Radio) to 53E on the Gibby (courtesy of CH's setup!), and 30W to 53E on the fixed dishes (my setups).

Nothing beyond 53E on either setup because that is right on the limit of what can be "seen" beyond the sloping ridge line of the house beyond the end of the garden - and the off-set LNB on the 80cm fixed dish for that sat gets slightly higher SS/SQ levels because it probably has a slightly better "view" of 53E than the Gibby.

Please amend my list to the following:-
Primary Arc via 100cm 52 east to 45 west (recent changes to Telstar 19 Vantage from Telstar 14R = loss of data stream here,
So nothing in the Ku band here passed 45 west.

Interesting toppic .:)

My 220cm dish works from 88E to 55,5W, it is 143,5 deg. Full view from my position.
mar-val (marval450)

So I will be second...for a while.:unsure

Hi mar-val,

I get +0,5 deg. for my 2,2m Ku-band dish, even when 61.0°W is empty in my region atm., I think. ^_^

61.0°W to 83.0°E, 144 deg., but tree on (old) position 50°W. so mar-val is still second yet. :Y

What arc should I enter for you into the table?

You have listed an arc of 83.0E to 61.0W which is 144.0 degrees in your post above. This would put you in second place in the table. If you could list the arcs for your Kathrein 2.2m dish and your Orbitron 4.9m dish I will try to work out how to add them into the table.

BTW, I did a little thinking about span of the arc. Lets assume somebody gets signals from 45*E to 45*W. Is his arc 90*? In reality, depending on the Latitude true arc will be different. For example if reception of the same arc performed in London than true angle between those 2 satellites will be 103.9*. If the same satellites received by user in Madrid than angle between same satellites will be 113.9*
So, further north user is located - easier to tune antenna to bigger arc, and vice versa.

Hi moonbase,

83.0E to 61.0W is with 2,2m Kathrein in Ku-band, but I haven´t free view to position 50°W (because of a tree).

58°W to 68,5°E with 4,9m Orbitron in C-band, full clear view.

Best regards
dx qwer.

Yes, I agree, the latitude has an impact on the scope of the available arc. For example, residents of Svalbard, Norway and residents of Macapa, Brazil have a different scope of availability for their arc.

To try and keep it simple for the purpose of the table I have been adding member records without taking into account geographic latitude.

This evening update to the table is attached below, updates are contributions from "mar-val" and "dx qwer".

I did not state clearly at the start of this topic that an arc had to have an unobstructed view across its entirety. Therefore, it seems a bit harsh not to use the 83.0E to 61.0W arc submitted by "dx qwer" even though it has some obstruction by a tree at 50.0W.

... but I haven´t free view to position 50°W (because of a tree)...

Are you able to lock a signal from 50.0W, either TV or radio or data with your 2.2m Kathrein dish?

Since there is no frequency limitation on the chart, or type of signal that requires demodulating / other conversion, dx qwer could capture a squirrel or something else making noises using a microphone on the focus.

Hi moonbase,

sorry for my bad english: 50°W (in Ku-band) was impossible for me in the past and even in future, when there (probably) will be a satellite transmission again.

I think that the members who have contributed to the chart have a reasonable idea of the type of signal that is relevant. Do you wish to contribute your arc details, your valuable and incisive input is always welcome?
