As per title - i select FTA only when tuning on DVBviewer, but the Movistar channels still show up. Why is this and is there an easy way to remove them? cheers

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

A number of channels (often, but not exclusively Italian) will be added to a FTA list during searches, conversely the same used to occur with the Berlusconi bouquet - I1/C5/R4 - that would be missed in a FTA search.
The latter did have periods where certain content needeed to be encrypted for copyright reasons, does Moviestar have a free period in their programme schedule, perhaps a 'teaser' period or another channel takes over in the small hours ?

I dont think it is determined by when the channel is showing, but the information - 'flags' - that are present in the data streams, which tell the connected/receiving equipment the status of the broadcast.

No, it won't make a difference, the receiver takes infomation from the data during a scan, not what it sees in terms of picture/ non picture
