My sister loves the Terry Wogan show on Radio 2. I didn't realise the man was still doing it. He's been at the BBC on radio since 1967, when Radios 1 and 2 started.

With all the TV, radio and personal appearances he's done, in today's world of multi-millionaire celebrities, he's probably worth an estimated £6 million, at least.

Yet he still gets up at 4am every weekday to host his breakfast show. At 68 years old.

I'd be in a retreat, enjoying the sun, and having fun in my retirement. Whatever turns him on, I suppose.:D

By the time YOU retire, the age of retirement will probably be 92 anyway - so why think 68yrs is crusty.:D

As said, if he likes it (and he can breathe) why not? There are a number of well-oiled presenters on R2 with cancer problems who give their best: every time they are 'ON AIR'.

I love Terry too - much more for Eurovision - since I am not normally awake at that horrid time of the day, hehe.

Me thinks, the UK has an ageist problem!

the thing i like about him, is that he doesnt take himself or whatever he's doing too seriously

Take the Eurovision for instance... Terry knows that the voting is a joke... and he does the show with a piss taking voice over sort of way.

his R2 show is the same, he even takes the micky out of himself..... i dont know what it is hes got, but you just feel compelled to listen to the guy for some reason..

as for the reason hes doing it, maybe the BBC cant find a replacement :)

Used to quite like him but after years of the same thing and the same voice he's a bit past his sell buy date.
One thing that surprises me is that on R2 Wogan is followed by Ken Bruce who sounds the bloody same as Wogan, and that's two good reasons not to listen to R2.
And why does Wogan wear a wig, he's on radio for god's sake not TV.:D

At least you know their schedule Rob :D Isn't that supposed help drive listener loyalty?

On a lighter note: I have it from a good source (Mrs May Dupp, 48, from Kettlebridge Lancs) that Terry presents his radio show without a hearing-aid and requires only a modicum of extra 'help' for his TV work - usually in the form of Gin & Tonic's poured in a ratio of 12:1 ;)

You're right Rob, I think they have the same script writer and voice advisor. :-rofl2

Well, the both of you (you know who you are;) ) don't have to listen to him.

Why moan that your favourite strawberry jam ain't raspberry anymore? 'Our' Tel pleases more listener's per day than Johnny Vaugannanan could every dream of.

People only moaned about Chris Tarrant AFTER he left Capital. He did the same gig for more than ten years, I believe. (Now he's at home rich & bored, Tja!). Maybe he'll take over from Terry one day and become even richer, LOL. :-rofl2 :-rofl2
