@Chris1979
Yes, I know that, but not really got the inclination, or, more realistically, the time to do that :rolleyes:

W.r.t. to the SX88 - also see the comments in this thread from post #592 onwards.

PS: Also, please try to give the brand and model number - and chipset type if you can - of any dongle that you mention, and links to relevant info or ads would be very helpful to us all as well.

W.r.t. to the Vu+ Solo 2 (and possibly other Vu+ boxes?): don't leave the Wifi or any other dongle in the rear panel USB ports of the box whilst re-imaging it because it causes the box to hang during the reboot after the re-imaging (I found this out the hard way, and it was later confirmed by someone on another forum).
Also, following on what I said earlier - make really sure you know the chipset in the dongle, and then download and install (if necessary) the correct device plug-in for that particular chipset via the wired LAN connection before you actually plug the dongle in.

I have to ask why you don’t leave the wired lan connected.

Do you flash them elsewhere :unsureand move it back to its “normal” location?

As I said at the beginning of this thread, the whole raison-d'etre for it was/is to reduce the number of network cables in the very small area behind the receiver stack by using as many USB wireless dongles as is possible - and now I'm down to 2 instead of 5-6 (the other is for the large Canon PIXMA 895 MFP!). I've learnt that I will always need 1 cable for the 5x receivers - but that's the "lot" for now.

Hopefully soon, I'll post a small pic in the relevant thread to demonstrate just how small and cramped that space is - just waiting for another HMDI switch and some more short HDMI cables to arrive in order to tidy what cabling (the HDMI cables from each receiver, and quite a few cables to the various LNBs down the garden - but I hope to reduce those in the near future) has to remain there!

As for "flashing" the dongles, I've never heard of doing that and I would have thought they are pretty much all non-reflashable anyway - the problem is to find the correct drivers for the dongle chipsets in the various closed-source receiver set-ups, and, for some dongles, those don't seem to be present.

I meant flashing the box or installing plugins to get the WiFi adapter to work.

The space available is, I said, very small and so all the receivers are in a "stack" held together with cable ties - otherwise I found it impossible to keep everything straight and tidy - it's would be a messy job to take it all apart and then put it back together after flashing the Solo2 and installing the plug-ins!

Anyway, the other 4 receivers are all closed-source and so, for those. it's simply a matter of plugging a dongle in to see if it is recognized or not (most basic ones appear to work 1st time, but some never seem to because the relevant drives are not installed in the closed-source firmware, and I/we can do little or nothing about that) and then, when I find which one(s) works in a box, using the Setup routine to get it connected the Wifi.
