Hi.
**I dont know if this is the correct place to post this, hopefully it is**
Well ive posted this on another forum which some of the members on here have helped me out on. I just wanted a couple more opinions before i take the plunge and buy a motorised system.

Basically my neighbour had an extension put up not that long ago and its blocked a bit more of the sky.

If you look at the photos then you'l be able to see how the dish is pointed and how much of the sky I can see from the dish point of view.
The first to pictures are taken from the front of the garden, the neighbours house is to the left og the pics.
The last two pics are from the back garden and look onto the neighbours house.

Sorry about the sun in the last pic. Its odd there was some sun in Britian tbf.

Any help is apreciated.
Thanks

Can't see a problem.

You are clear anyway Westwards from your Sky dish and the only worthwhile Satellite you might conceivably miss going further East is Turksat - and I suspect you'll clear that neighbouring edifice anyway.

From your pics you should have no trouble picking up the interesting sats, ie from 28east to 1 west. That will give you over 1000 fta channels to investigate. Anything outside those will be a bonus to you.
Get the dish up nice and high, ie like the small one in your pics. Best wishus for your future installation.
Go for a 1m dish, you'll not regret it.

Thanks for tha Bob.
More confident now with getting the satellites.
Its just putting the dish up now.
I havn't actually experienced the weight of these things, how heavy is the actual dish, compared to something simliar in weight?

Thanks

I think I can say, without fear of contradiction, that something as similar in weight to the actual dish will indeed be similar in weight :-sman2;):-ohmy

Weight of dish, depends upon it's size and the material it is made of.
More important is the wind speed when you are climbing a ladder with the dish over your shoulder. Especially if you are carrying a large dish during a gale. You might finish up in Tivu's back garden :-pachrist

Steel 1m dishes are heavy, you have to be very careful when up a ladder with one. If it is your first time, it should be a two person job IMHO.

Aluminium 1m are always a better choice than steel for this reason. There will also be less strain on the motor. They cost a bit more, but it is always worth it.

The lightest 1m (or any other size) are the perforated 'mesh' dishes, and they are the choice when you need light weight above all else. The motor should last longest with them. They also blend in the best if you spray them with car paint the same colour as the wall. You may not even spot them from a distance without looking carefully.

Fiberglass or resin dishes are at least as heavy as steel but are the most expensive.
