Global hamburger giant McDonald's, challenged by obesity lawsuits and the growing popularity of low-carbohydrate diets, hopes to tempt more Britons into its restaurants with guided tours of the kitchens. McDonalds, which said it serves over three million customers every day in the UK, will open kitchens at 130 restaurants to customers. "Major attractions include the French Fry station and the Big Mac preparation area," the company said in a statement.
While its U.S. sales are recovering after a sustained downturn, McDonalds is still having a hard time in Europe.
