I see Fox News is gone from EPG on Sky and has stopped broadcasting on Astra 2. Will anyone miss it?

Seems something to do with Murdoch trying to take over Sky - see here and probably elsewhere.

I shall miss the channel. I regularly used to tune in for 5 or 10 mins at a time for a dose of comedy and horror. Their attempted defence and support of Trump was hilarious, Their attacks on CNN were beyond belief - the latest i saw was them calling a question by cNN's reporter on whether hurricane Harvey was made worse by global warming an attempt by the liberal press to attack trump's stance on global warming. Do Americans really believe in this guff or are the majority ill educated rednecks.

I know what you mean about "comedy and horror" - but I'm glad it's gone (at least for the moment?) because I could not stand the ultra right wing "in your face " (and very loud) attacks on anything with which they "disagreed", and then there was/is their support for Donald

We won't need Fox News, as Sky News will be of the same disposition when (not if) Murdoch gets the whole package.

No wonder you are not up to speed on world events, the biggest Qatar propoganda channel in existence which is why it was kicked out of America earlier this year and and now many Arab countries are following suit. I find it hard to beleive that this is still operating in the UK and the EU.

Always a good idea to witness a range of views rather than swallowing our own Western propaganda as of right. I think it important to hear what other nations and culture have to say, even it at times it might appear outrageous.

Ok true but not when a lot of it is make believe or to put it stronger, total fabrication, you may as well watch a fairy tale

But that's the point .... our home grown news might seem to have fairy-tale elements to it, from where others sit.

The arrogance of larger powers is a big problem for many other countries.

There is much chatter, for example, about the BBC making the News rather than reporting it, and often not being impartial. Fox News has an even worse reputation in many circles.

Just like North Korean TV then!

Now occasionally watching CNN again - generally seems fairly "balanced".

Although I agree with all that's been said. We should not overlook the fact that Fox News was encrypted. People won't pay for news on its own. If you subscribe to everything on Sky you get it.
Like Sky News HD it's hidden behind a pay wall. Remove the encryption loads more people would watch.

Shouldn't have to pay to watch news. Sky still have this extra charge for HD viewing. Just another way of making money. But to encrypt a foreign news channel and wonder why the figures are small answers itself. Regardless whether you watch would you pay extra to watch a foreign news channel that isn't in HD????

This obsession to encrypt everything.

Maybe Fox wanted to appear to provide "insider news" which you cannot get free :D

OTOH, if Fox had not been part of the Sky package, I certainly would not have paid to watch it in either SD or HD.

Similarly, the dirty digger's Times and Sunday Times online are behind a paywall.
Could buy them at the newsagent I suppose, but judging by the sheer bulk of the ST, you'll be denuding a forest of a few trees in the process.

Precisely, telling the populous what they want to hear but not actually doing it or unable to fulfil the promises, sound familiar?

When I was 8 or 9 I made up a shortwave radio so thatI could listen to Radio Moscow, Radio Tirana, Habana Cuba etc, not that I was going to be a communist or left winger, just wanted another version on world events and then I could make up my own mind.
I assume people watch VOA TV or its arabic version, and just have to accept that it is going to come with a cetain viewpoint of the the American Government, or RT with Russian Government viewpoint, this is what makes life so good, as we all disseminate information differently with our own viewpoint on it, it dosent mean X broadcaster is wrong and Y broadcater is right
