I bought the above for making cabling for connecting the TV to the wall plates.
However it is rubbish - the compression fittings do not clamp on.
However after a bit of fiddling about I think the problem is that the the stripped cable is not sufficiently long. The tool can strip to 4, 6,8 & 12mm. However I can't find any instructions on how to alter the stripping length.
Does anyone on here know. Can't be hard!

Also is there any recommended compression fittings as the ones provided appear to be rubbish!

I have been making some cables up today using it.

As luck would have it, I've figured how to alter the stripping length.

Any info on which compression connections to get?

I've only got a small bit of work to do and then that is me so not willing to splash out on tools.
The tools seem fine, it is the connectors.

??????? Thats for coax ???????

All mine are for round coax and use a rotary motion, how could a flat type stripper like that be used on coax????

This is what I use.

I used the cutter on the side to remove the outer jacket. Then use the flat part to remove the plastic wrap around the coax Center.

I prefer to use the flat part for other cables eg earth cable.

I also use this if it’s needed

The red one was less than £4 delivered.

Mine uses 3 blades set for the exact spacing needed for a smooth install, 4 or 5 twists and "POP" it's ready for the connector.

Sounds like I need one. Any chance of a photo or link please?

Thanks.

I have one of those, with a ring pull system

The stripper will cut 1/4 inch approx or 7/8mm of cable outer exposing 8mm of braid and whatever core you wish, 8mm is about right. That is what is required for those compression connectors.

Agree. I have several different makes; one is official PPC, one is Screwfix brand (ironforge or something).
The PPC is of course the best, but also the most expensive.

F-connectors: What type you fancy?

The trick is to rotate the tool just enough times, and not overdo it.
In many cases, If I clamp together to hard initially, or rotate too many tmies, the tool will cut away the braided shielding too (you need to fold this back for the metal sleeve of the compression tool to penetrate between the braid and the inner insulator.

Adjustment of the blades dependon whether you use double, triple, or quad-shielded, and also what make and model I use.
Some tools are for specific cables, and some are fully adjustable (but need full adjustment!).

I will try and find it a bit cheaper

You would not beleave how many cheap ones I have thrown off the roof during an install and used a pocket knife.

They may be a bit expensive for occasional use but they work.

Home Depot and Lowes carry some good connectors and stripper/crimp tools for this type of occasional use, but I don't know if they have stores in your area.
