Got an HMRC one the other day; sadly, now deleted. It referred to a 'tax remain.' Another failure by the education system, or they were missing the day they did reedin and rightin!

@PaulR
Change the "sr..." in the sender's email address to a "c" to get an idea of the "content" and what it might lead to :)

I'd suggest the latter, but the line is blurry.

Got an "HMRC Tax Refund" email today - but, out of curiosity, before deleting it I checked out the underlying web domain, which seems to "bb.cnuas.edu"

Guess where that appears to be - see attached jpg, and I wonder where that would take me?:rolleyes:

But the same search also threw up this:
"California National University for Advanced Studies SSL certificates
California National University For Advanced Studies SSL certificates — CertDB - which actually appears to be some sort of legitimate site.

But following that link brings up a page with the following info at the bottom

"CertDB provides aggregated information about SSL / TLS certificates issued around the world. The most important information about the expiry date of certificates helps in providing comprehensive monitoring of the security of personal data, the encrypted transmission of which provides a certificate. In a constantly growing database, CertDB updates information about protected domains and ports, organizations, types of certificates, issuers of certificates by country and region.
The CertDB team offers pre-configured groups of TOP-domains, TOP-countries, TOP-organizations, TOP-issuers for quick viewing of ratings. The group New was set up to monitor the release of new certificates within the last 7 days. Group Expiring aggregated data about certificates that have expired in the last 7-1 days. "

If that is a legit organisation, it would seem like not all the "offers" are coming from the East, Far East or Africa - but also from US "educational" facilities! Almost like "gamekeeper turned poacher".

In fact, I'm seeing quite a few suspicious domains with ".edu" at the end, and notably "hawaii.edu"!

The email was actually very "professionally" prepared - well laid out and no obvious "English" errors - but I don't need (to LOSE! ) that money :-rofl2
