The whole fiasco gives no credibility to whoever thought it up,
It beggars belief that despite advice they chose this route of certain doom,
What a waste of a potential idea for regional TV,

It seems that us the knowing are still being lead by the unknowing :-rofl2

And STV have decided to throw in the towel on the STV2 project. They're selling the five local licences on to That's TV...

STV2 axed; BBC blamed - a516digital

It's hard to describe the local TV project as anything better than a facepalm. The only one local station that seems to be doing OK for itself from everything I've seen & read is NVTV in Belfast. Other than London Live it seems every other licence is falling into the hands of "That's" or "Made In..."

Glasgow,ish!
Seen the news about the rank rotten STV2, done a back flip with joy as it's completely f#*king awful and cringe inducing, ancient repeats and Polish dramas that not even the Poles would watch, the Polish guy in the work says "this is what you call shit.." lol

More nails being hammered into the coffin of local tv - another of the rapidly diminishing independents is closing

Estuary TV in Grimsby have thrown in the towel. Its been flogged off to the "Thats...." operation

Estuary TV channel to close - a516digital

Another one that found its financial position was unsustainable after the 3 year guaranteed funding ended

Grimsby based Estuary TV is the latest service to throw in the towel after realising the whole local TV game is a complete disaster. Another one flogged off to the "Thats...." operation.

London Live is rumoured to be in trouble too with a sale being discussed.

It still has not dawned on them that the only way Local TV will survive is by being Free to Air,

So for the next few months they will go through the final death throes of a failed idea due to pandering upto pay TV :-rofl2

AIUI they get lesser restrictions on advertising time by being encrypted - going fta would immediately hit their profitability in a big way.

Ofcom would be far better off saying "no more variations - if you cant make the service pay then hand the licence back"

Why not try a few hours of mature content, local talent ?

I concede it might not save the Grimsby licence, nor London with the recent obesity stats.

Well what a surprise - 17 stations have asked for their local commitments to be amended so they can become a "national spine service". I believe we may have forecast that months ago? Amazingly this has been promoted after the BBC funding ran out......

BBC funding has only run out due to the misappropriated costs of employing a non not for profit company ( for example Capita just as a project/dissertation) and the cost savings promise(s), within contracts signed from well over a decade ago, whichever business won the contracts.

The books need looking into, in close detail, along with the 'manifestos' of each side, honoured or otherwise, plus the staff that were involved in the final signage of the agreement(s).

If an establishment such as the BBC s under threat, it is the duty of every individual with a TVs licence to report any additional expense that affect their ability to watch what they are paying for, not just those that are going to have it taken away through excessive or -God forbid- fraudulent practice.
