No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

Well thats it for most of us. 0100 - Cape Verde but unlikley to do anything on the web stream assuming its still up. 0200 is Rio for anyone still awake.

BY my reckoning on a quick count up its been 14 New Years this time so far. Some nice surprises - Pyongyangs syncronised drone display was fab. Nepal was a bonus. India was a dire disappointment this year - lets hope for better next year

Happy New Years, folks! Ended up watching on BBC World News, they joined a couple of minutes before midnight. Interesting that we got the bongs but no Westminster Quarters.

Ash-Sharqiyah also signed off at 0015 GMT, 0415 Dubai time. The sign-off sounded something like "God willing, goodnight".

Did Ash-Sharqiyah show the fireworks?
France 24 is usually better than BBC World, who can be odd at times.

Also CNN for New York Time Square but without Kathy it is excruciating, absolute torture.

Rio is good if you can get a decent bitrate.

Didn't check, I joined BBC World News for midnight but given that they signed off *after* London fireworks there is a chance that did - they did have a reporter present in London - could see London Eye in the distance(and of course on-air graphics also saying London).

All right, happy new year again, folks... Will set an alarm for 0430'ish GMT(0630 in Estonia) for US midnights.

And its been wonderful having access to Reuters for the first time - well recommended to any Chasers who havent ever set a dish up for 22W. The clean feeds are well worth the effort of setting it up. Ive got an lnb hanging off a battered old 80cm aimed at 30W for 22W

Oh, same procedure next NYE?

Same procedure EVERY year :-rofl2

This is the 13th year we have done this & I fully expect it to run indefinitely in some form.

I sort of invented the Chasing Midnight game long ago over on the DS forum, it didnt really take off over there but its found its home here. And hey if we can get Dinner For One raised in the British consiousness thast it gets its official UK tv premier this year anything is possible :-rofl2 Its only taken 25 years since I first discovered DF1 on the old Sky analogue system at my parents house down in the Midlands. :)

(Damned E2 receivers - I want my lovely old TM5402 back!) :D (And yes before anyone comments it will be going to Rusty if I decide I cant fix it!)

Flashback to 4pm Hong Kong on Phoenix 9e. Good display for 11 minutes and decent sound. Always worth remembering for next time.

0100 Cape Verde seems to be live for a change (although the stream is flaky)

New Year #15 - Cape Verde. Most odd - a live concert interrupted by a quick countdown then back to the concert! :D

Well, that was a barrel of shat.

Blew their budget of 5 new pence on a flashy feliz caption.
