So,

a few of you will know I was debating a new set up with multi lnb and ended up with a motor instead. Well, I got a technomate 5402 M3 as part of my new setup, and am getting my head around that before I rip the fixed dish down and motorise it.

1st thing I figured is it won’t do IPTV out of the box. 2nd thing I figured is there’s a lot of different patches, each with pros and cons. 3rd thing was it’s probably not worth the hassle of patching to do IPTV, and I should just get a stand alone unit for that, and keep the 5402 standard. Finally I figured the 5402 has had its day. Seems a decent enough unit for what it is (sub £100). Am I right to not bother setting up for IPTV, and if I should, what patch would be best to use? All the reading about patching is making my head spin! it shipped to me with V1.44, and the tmonline update feature won’t connect to the server.

All advice and knowledge welcome and appreciated

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

Yes, it doesn't do IPTV, it is a satellite receiver only .

Patch it with the most recent patch from the link pasted below, it will enhance the operational functionality of the unit.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
@Monkey Man

Use the 5402 for what it's useful, i.e. a simple Sat Rx with decent sensitivity and reasonably good blind scan ( I have 2x - one in the "office" for "looking around" various sat and the other one down the garden for setting up the dishes) - but get something else that is more modern for IPTV

The 5402 has been effectively abandoned - the patches are years out of date. Dont expect to watch much pay tv with them.

thanks all, have patched as per moonbase link (thank you sir), am waiting to get the motor installed before I play much more. Decided to get a new dish (the old/current one didnt lend itself to mounting to the new motor) and mount somewhere that I get a view of the full arc (current position can only see south thru east). Have sounded out the boss and may yet get away with a slightly bigger dish too.

Cheers all, Monkey Man : )
