My Satellite Setup

Hi all, I've been through site and I've come to the conclusion its weeks or months to get up to speed. Could anyone recommend a one stop shop to setup for me? I don't have the bandwidth to learn from scratch and hoping for a local source I can pay to install and setup. Any help be gracefully received. DM me if that works better. Thanks again!

To setup a motorised dish capable of receiving both C-Band and Ku-Band satellite feeds could be looked at as a two stage process?

1. Acquisition of the equipment.
2. Installation and setup of the equipment.

Regarding point 1, to do this from scratch with the purchase of brand new equipment could prove quite expensive. An alternative option would be to source second hand equipment and hope to make considerable savings over the purchase cost of new.

Regarding point 2, you need a competent installer with experience of large dish motorised satellite systems, especially if you hope to view C-Band cricket feeds.

To summarise, you could be looking at considerable outlay and before proceeding you should decide if the expenditure is justifiable by any benefit you may gain from being able to view the satellite cricket feeds.

Before moving forward, I think you need to identify your precise needs, such as C-Band functionality, Ku-Band functionality, satellite dish size, is planning permission needed for the dish, is there a suitable location available to site the dish that has line of sight to the satellites, method of coping with encrypted transmissions (beyond the scope of forum discussions).

Without a list of requirements you are blocked from moving forward, the equipment to be purchased is defined by the need.

Moving on to the cricket feeds themselves, to the best of my knowledge they have been available from a UK location on satellites ranging from 47.5 West to 68.5 East in C-Band and Ku-Band. That is quite a wide arc and requires a ground or flat roof location without blockages to the satellite line of sight. The satellite at 68.5 East is low in the sky and approximately 4.7 degrees above the horizon from West London.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!

You need to find a GOOD (e.g. not a SKY "engineer") LOCAL Sat installation expert to do the job - thus we will need to know your location fairly precisely in order to (hopefully) make some suggestions (might be someone "here" but no guarrantees!) !

If I guess correctly about the purpose of this cricket feed setup it may possibly be needed in time for the IPL 2019 starting on 23rd March? If that is the case then the installation should be focused more towards easterly satellites such as 68.5E.

If we take an approximate longitude of 73 degrees East for India, it is not a practical option to have a direct uplink satellite feed from the cricket grounds on a westerly satellite. Any cricket feeds for the IPL from westerly satellites will have added picture delay due to being "double hop" or "re-uplink" feeds.

To get C-Band signals from 68.5E requires quite a large dish in a UK location. It also requires an elevated location to get a line of sight to the satellite. Personally, I think a dish size in excess of 2.4 metres diameter may be needed to get a stable picture lock for 68.5E C-Band feeds, particularly if they are in 8PSK modulation with an FEC of 3/4 or greater.

If my guess about the IPL is incorrect then my incoherent ramblings above can be ignored.

Good evening to one and all.
just getting back in to the sat scene. As an amature radio op. my return was called by the new sat Es'hail 2 for amature TV. At the moment I have two 1meter motorised dishes up and a small sky dish. soon to be added by a 80cm dish
Im using 2 zgemma receivers and a miniTioune 123700
123701

this will receive dvbs and dvbs2 signals from 144Mhz-2.4Ghz It will also do all the SR rates all the way down to 125 and all the FEC variants
123702
Some of the narrowband ATV signals received from EShail 2 who DATV downlink is 10.491-10.499Ghz

Ipl 2019 there are feed on 100e but feeds are in different modulation and requires advanced satellite ird.
So if you install a bigger dish for c band it will not help you to get feeds of ipl 2019.
I am trying to purchase a advanced satellite receiver in next 7 days i will update you with more info as soon as i get it.

Welcome to the forum, if you've made it to here, then you have either registered or are thinking of doing so. All you need is a valid E-mail address to register, this will enable you to see the full forum and make posts on the many subjects.

There may be some items in your user profile which you may want to change or fine tune, for instance you can choose not to receive E-mail or allow private messages, you can do this by going into the user cp at the top of the page. You may perhaps want to add your own personal avatar, there is a size limit on avatars but you can alter the size on the web with http://www.gifworks.com/. Sides should ideally not be larger that 65 pixels

Please take the time to go to the General chat forum, there are posts there on a vast range of topics and nearly always a members poll for you to vote on, also essential to read the sticky forum rules and guidelines prior to making a post, they're all pretty much common sense and do not make heavy reading. :)

Hope you all enjoy the new forum, I feel it has many features that make it a big improvement on the last. Thanks to Chris-Head Honcho for organising the changeover.

Hi everyone

I’m from Croatia and completely “rooki” in satellite technology, but I’m working in oil Riggs and when I move from platforms I care my receiver with me, and I buy antennas I’m many countries, so this is my “start “ position. In many countries your cannot ask IT guy for help, so if you wanna do something, you must to do it by yourself.
I’m not familiar with forums but it is helpful

Thanks in advance!

Just pointing out that "e" comes before "i" - except "after c" (and thus "receive" and not "recieve"!), but welcome to the forum:)
wearing pedant's hat :pThat should be 'i' before 'e' except after c

I'm absolutely certain that your English is far superior to my Croatian or any language from SE Europe! I can get twitchy about misspellings but I expect it and ignore them. I'm no great fan of using the tiny keyboards of a phone though!

Was not criticizing you, just correcting another member who I suspect was on dry land at the time he posted:lol: Unlike my fellow admin I find it hard not to correct spellings on a British based forum. It stems from 40 years of proof reading for SWMBO
