"Dawn" did you mean at the morning time? :confused
If it was meant to be "down" than it can not change reception in any way. Perhaps when you pull down rain cup you changed position of the broken feedarm and that could change the reception.
position was ok ..i see tv from dish ..so i can install position satellite easy ..nigh time i wasnt able see nothing .. because too much raining .. possible small short from rain.. need buy good dish now

Return. It'll only annoy you every time you see it, otherwise!

If you do buy a Gilbertini then check that one carefully when it arrives - especially if it is the aluminium version because that can be dented/bent very easily!

please can someone help me please, i have a 120cm sat dish connected to motor, and connected to metal pole which is concreted into the ground, the problems im having is getting it to pick up any satellites, since i moved it from my washing pole line (before attaching the motor), it was able to pick up thor 6 satellite channels from my garden (King's Lynn), but since moving it further back and attaching the motor it isnt picking up any "quality" but is signals appently, can someone help with that?? i have asked a engineer person to pop round to give me a quote but if i could do it my self that would save money, thanks

Welcome to the forum Dan.
The easiest way, to lock onto a satellite, is by using a satellite meter, even a cheap one, you can get online, or from a local DIY shop.
satellite meter.JPG

This connects between your LNB and your receiver, and allows you to tweak your dish, to get the strongest possible signal quality, as well as testing your cable, as if not connected correctly it doesn't light up.
You turn the knob, to the left, increasing the sensitivity, until it reads around 5, mid point, then gently move your dish, left/right, until it reads 10, maximum. You then decrease the sensitivity, by turning the knob to the right, until again it reads 5, move your dish again, to get it to 10, then keep continuing the process, until you have the maximum signal quality.
You then tilt the dish, slightly, adjusting the meter, as you do so, to once again get the maximum signal quality, and then scan in channels, on your receiver, to check which satellite you're on, or post the results, on the forum, so that someone can identify them.

You might also want to check on dishpointer.com, to see the general direction, where you should be pointing your dish, just type in your postcode, select 0.8W, from the drop down satellite box, and zoom in on the map, to your house, and roughly where you have your dish located, moving the green icon, as you do so. You can then also check to see if there are any obstructions, between your dish, and various satellites.

None of this is difficult, and it's made a lot easier, as you have your dish at ground level.

Can you please post some pictures, of your dish, motor, and pole, as it would help a lot.

When setting up a motorized system you must start with the basics, the first being getting your pole perfectly plumb, so that your satellite dish can track the satellite arc correctly.

I think you'd find a simple sat meter a lot easier/quicker to use than that digital one which will take some setting-up time and experience to get the best out of it - I have the same Satlink meter but still find that the simple meter a lot easier/quicker, especially when I feed that to the sat receiver and small TV that I take down the garden where my dishes are.

If you have the WS6906 you don't need anything else , just input a FTA frequency in the meter and point it in the right direction until you get a reading , tighten the bolts a bit and than go further .

Getting an apparent signal strength indication but zero quality merely reflects that an LNB is connected ..... you'll get the same indication if you point the dish randomly and regardless of which Satellite you select. Indeed, remove the LNB from its holder and you'll still get that reading.

how can i get it to work then?? without a meter thing someone said about? it worked before adding the motor but now its not, still waiting on sat engineer to arrive to try and fix it for me hopefully they can "align" it for me to pick up all satellites i want to pick up :)

Well, that's it ...... accurate alignment onto the arc. Needles in a 3-D haystack!

The Installer you've got coming should sort you out quick-smart as you've obviously done all the mechanical work.

Pay close attention to how he does it, so you can make any future changes yourself.

Interposing a motor can cause problems as people often use the wrong scale on the motor bracket (There's usually one marked Latitude and one marked Elevation). The Motor needs to be directly set to your Latitude, on the Latitude scale, and the dish bracket needs to be set to around 24 deg.

Alignment is achieved by swivelling the entire Motor/Dish assembly around the pole to establish Azimuth, and by minutely adjusting the dish bracket (not the motor bracket) to establish Elevation. All to be done, if possible, on Thor, and with the LNB on zero skew.

Update: Sat Engineer's been and aligned my 120cm sat dish to 13'E and was able to pick up loads and loads and loads of channels on his device, which is good even NASA UHD Channel (Unencrypted) here in the UK :) now to start searcing for "feeds" and concert feeds :)

Did he set up your motor, and get all the other available satellites tuned in?
Depending on your motor it might have been best if he set it up on 0.8W, depending on your longitude.

Well, You seemed to be in a hurry :) .

Otherwise there is lots of expertise here.
If you watched how your man today operated, and read some stuff for instance at the Dish Setup Guides and Information threads that are here: DISH SETUP: Single sat, Multi-Sat & Motorised
then you can do it yourself in the future. Maybe the motor setup?

When done step by step (start with the basics, as Mickha said!) success will be there.

Greetz,
