Hi, I want to find a way to have Iranian domestic channels and also French satellite channels on my TV. At the moment I watch the Iranian ones on my laptop (legally) and I used to have a dish for French TV. I believe the domestic Iranian channels can not be received by sat in the UK (they are on Badr 5). Yes, some of them are on 13E again but unfortunately not the most common domestic channels that I need (IRIB 1,2,3 4 etc.).

Would this receiver work for me to combine the French satellite channels and also the domestic Iranian streams in one receiver? And would the Iranian streams be recordable?

I was thinking of a big dish for the French multistreams on 5W with Iranian IPTV.

Thanks for any help.

Octagon SF8008 or Edision OS Mio 4k will both work for the French satellite channels from 5°W.
I use a Triax TD 110 dish for multistream.

Thanks. I have a 90 cm dish but sounds like that might not be good enough. :(

Does it also handle internet streams?

Edit: I want to point out that the IRIB streams are legal, they are available on their website and worldwide with just blocking when some films and sport (usually football) is on.

The 90 cm dish will not do the job in winter because the FEC is 8/9.

There is an easier way to get the French stuff.

Either get a Fransat receiver / CAM and put up a small dish for 5W or spend €60/year and get a BIS sub and CAM with a dish aimed at Hotbird.

I can confirm, for Belgium, a 90cm dish will do the job perfectly. (for receiving the French Multistream channels at 5W)
Only in case of heavy rain or lightning the channels will fade away. But it happens maybe 2 times a year and that for 5 - 10 minutes max.

Thanks. I have a 90 cm dish but sounds like that might not be good enough. :(

For the UK a Triax 110 will of course be better but you can try with your 90 cm dish to start with and see how it goes.

For technical and security reasons of access rights, the Fransat PC6 card has a lifespan limited to 4 years, starting from the date of its first insertion into the decoder or TV module.
After 4 years he will need a friend living in France to order on line a new Fransat PC6 card (15€), but! with french credit card and address in France for the shipping.

Of course, everyone has the right to help increase the profits of wealthy french capitalists, but pay tv subscriptions are not my cup of tea. Me, I have studied marketing and I do not allow multimillionaires to cheat me. They are rich enough without stealing my money.

No need for a french address etc - the cards are eadily & cheaply available pre activated online.

My reason for going for the multistreams is to be able to record.
I've had French satellite TV before, my main issue at the moment is the Iranian domestic channels.

I use an 80cm dish for the 8PSK 8/9 French multistreams and the signal is absolutely fine all year, further north in central England. The only times it ever drops out is in the heaviest rain, and rain heavy enough to do that is not very common at all.

Yes, thanks for that information. I had realised that yesterday, and it was the last thing I expected. I am going to be trying it out but the issue is that apparently you need a clear view to the horizon (I asked in another thread). I do have that, I live in a house that faces due south and there is a field in front, but there is a very slight incline in the land and some houses half a mile away which I understand might be enough to block the signal.

Is it never snowing in England?

For someone who speaks English it is better to also watch tv channels from 4.8°E & 0.8°W, isn't it?
