I know it doesn't work the otherway round so i should imagine not.

I got my hands on one of the Sky+ HD Chrome remotes only to find it does not operate my Sky+ SD box, so i should imagine they use different command codes/frequencies.

You could change an old Sky remote to operate a limited set of the Sky+ commands - Ive done it. However it was only two or three of the commands that worked.

I rather doubt it would work with the newer HD boxes.

Cool, how?
For any Sky remote version 4 or later

Press tv
Press and hold Select and i on HD remotes OR Select and Yellow on standard and Sky+ remotes until red led on remote flashes twice
Press 0 for standard sky, 1 for Sky+ (or 2 for sky HD only on HD remotes - but standard and Sky+ remotes will control HD boxes in Sky+ mode)
Press select - red led should flash twice
Press Sky

Both my HD remotes are version 8 and select and i work fine. Someone on another forum suggests that select and yellow works on earlier HD remotes

Both my version 6 and version 8 Sky+ remotes control my HD boxes without reprogramming. The only remotes I have come across that cannot do this are non-genuine clones.

I got a spare sky+ remote version 8 (the original went missing a few weeks back), I have reset it no problem using the instructions for hd remote above (setup+i works, so I select #2 when resetting, have tried others too).

But it will not work with my sky+hd box. My understanding is that it should but unsure.

Any advice appreciated!

Is it a Sky+ (grey plastic) or Sky HD+ (silver or black plastic) remote? If it is a Sky+ then "2" will NOT work - use "1" and it should control both Sky+ and Sky HD boxes.

Thanks. It says sky+ version 8. It's 2 tone colour, grey font, black bottom half back. I tried again with setting it to 1, but box does not respond to controls after being set.

I suspect the subject is no longer current as the previous Posts were from 2015 and the original query dates from 2010 :)
