Have decided, due to a lack of advice from my friends, other than Mr T and H, had to consult the ultimate oracle, SWMBO. She, who knows nothing about sats, dishes or alignment, said go with your gut! ( Well, not totally true, SWMBO said go with your beer enlarged gut! ) ( We have a loving relationship! ) So have decided to go ahead with the Emitor.
Will let you know what I think when it arrives.

Has the postman got lost?
Deso, this is Spain. It takes ten weeks to get confirmation that you may be on the VIES database. Beieng on the VIES database is important because it means I don´t have to pay VAT / IVA / BTW etc, esp. as Sweedish VAT is 25%.

Finally got permission from Spain to order the box without having to pay the VAT last Friday. Have tried to contact Emitor, but so far no response. Have they gone out of business while I´ve been playing Spanish politics?

Ah yes, Spanish paperwork. :) We will hopefully be retiring to Fuerteventura in a few years so I'll have to get used to the fact that you can't have things NOW.
At least IGIC (VAT) is only 7% in the Canaries. :-biglaugh

That´s good, tax exempt zone, full of Spanish Politicians who cannot reside in the mainland any longer ( those that are not on trial at the moment )

Good news today though, have received an e-mail from Emitor so hopefully should get the box before I retire!

Talking of paperwork, had to get permissions for my concrete in the garden and a road closure to get it done today. Was told by the town hall no chance, you have to wait until it´s been passed by planning department.

Invoked Techu, my Spanish friend and translator. She phoned the chief of police and spoke to her uncle, ex-mayor of the town where I live, and I had all permissions within two hours!

It´s not what you know.........

Had a quick play with the Emitor this morning and it seems fairly easy to use. Spectrum makes sense which is a bonus as the S1 spectrum is meaningless. Did a quick comparison between the Emitor, the S1 and my VU+ SE using 10773V as the test txp. Emitor is much less erratic on snr readout, holding steady at 11.3dBm which agreed with the VU. The S1 jumps between 11.3 - 12.4 dBm which confirms my suspicions that the S1 was reading high and that the lowest value is closest to the truth. Will still use the S1 for quick checks and ladder work as it is much smaller and lighter, also a lot less money to replace if dropped!
Going to try the DVB-T side in a moment on a televes antenna I have sat in the garden.

Not too sure about the DVB-T side, judgement out at the moment, could be me as I need to find how it works correctly. Battery life is a concern, used 3/4 power in about 1.5 hours. Maybe because it wasn´t fully charged when it arrived, even though it said it was!

I think you'll find that most new batteries need to go through 2 or 3 full charge cycles before they achieve their rated capacity Brian.
