Ref the decoding - Yes since yesterday (and using the co-linear at the end of the garden). Display rolls very quickly so must be getting a lot of data - OTOH, the dongle is getting pretty warm and I don't think I should run it for too much longer as the surface temp is probably around 50C:(

Me again

Can I suggest that I do uninstall /reinstall dump1090 - but after following skomedal's lead on how to disable parts of KIS - and do the same with VRS and MLat Client? If so, as it's been a long day chasing my tail on this, then I would like to do all that tomorrow (probably around lunchtime as I have things to do earlier), and then I will try to get VRS working again and tell you what the situation is at that point?

batch file should read:-

dump1090.exe --interactive --net --net-ro-size 500 --net-ro-rate 5 --net-buffer 5 --net-beast --mlat
pause

or download this

Dropbox - dump1090-win.rar

and look for

Capture.PNG

when i ran it for the first time the windows firewall box popped up, i had to hit yes.

i wont be able to help tomorrow as i got a mate coming up for the night.

OK, that's what I will do.

w.r.t Mlat Client, I downloaded the instructions and put them into a WORD document which is, I hope, shorter & easier to read than the webpage - I would attach it here but I don't think that I can.

PS:
Not really "here" because this is from my netbook downstairs whilst "unwinding", but I never got any message like that from KIS!

Tomorrow, I hope I will go "forward".

Morning

Some comments on the screen dumps you posted late last night:
- I now get the same "1090 starting" screen that you did, but then that changes to a vertically rolling display instead of the relatively static columned display of your second shot - and I did get that type of display for the first few "runs", but that changed to the rolling version after I swopped the small mag-base antenna for the cable to the co-linear (and back again a couple of times) for some reason I don't understand because I don't remember doing anything to the s/w!
- As I said earlier, I had already checked the Windows Firewall status, and it showed that it is switched OFF and the firewall function is being handled by KIS

Last night I could not find out how to get into the KIS firewall function, but skomedal told later pointed out how I should be able to do that, and that was too late for me to do anything about it at the time - will aim to do that around lunchtime today. I will also "start again" by getting rid of the current 1090, MLat Client and VRS setups and redo the whole thing from scratch.

I run kaspersky, and don't run the windows firewall, but I still got the pop up.

Good luck with the re install:-)
