After a few hours of frustratedly trying everything - including up the ladder at the LNB - I have discovered a quirk with the (otherwise excellent) Humax HDR-1010 (and maybe with the 1000).
After receiving the new box a couple of weeks ago, while running down a stock of programmes on the old...
No UK spot beam reception here - even on meter - since 12 May - not just me but at least 2 others with 120 cm dishes and quality LNBs.
Sly News etc. still 100%/90%.
Starting to enjoy the Japanese view on NHK World - fantastic HD :-)
I recently bought a 6908 and used it to tweak my new 120 Laminas dish and (even newer) Black Ultra Quad. No problems at all.
The instructions are poor but I found it very easy to run a scan on my previous dish (Gibertini 100 cm on 28.2) then select appropriate channels to tune in the new one...
Rather unfortunate placing on Lidl France's latest offers
For non-French speakers, "diluant" means "solvent".

Tried the sky box - a Pace DS445NB - instead of the Topfield. Results: very similar, no C5 and very pixellated 4/seven, signal tester shows (roughly) 90%/80%, so worse than the Humax or Topfield.
As a next step I'll try taking that box (which doesn't owe me very much) to test with Simon's -...
Simon has checked his boxes - the one I saw the other day is indeed a Pace 2600C1 (well done, Timo) but the other is an "AXIL AD600" - apparently a French supermarket box bought second hand - that also pulls in C5 24/7.
I tried my Foxsat in non-Freesat mode - no difference (found RT HD...
@ Gary D: No, I've only tried it in Freesat mode - I'll have a go tomorrow just to see.
The Topfield seems much more sensitive that the Foxsat (in Freesat mode anyway).
I'll have to ask Simon nicely if he would bring one of his digiboxes up here to test - not much risk for him (unless he can't...
Juan, that's not quite my problem - I just can't get enough signal on the 5 cluster (a few mornings excepted) no matter how much or how carefully I tweak the dish. Non-2F channels are OK.
Simon (my digibox friend) is picking up all Sky EPG FTA channels with no problems on (metaphorically) a...
Perplexed!
Yesterday I witnessed it first hand:
Left home - "no signal" on all C5 channels, 4/seven just about viewable on the Topfield only - walked half a mile to a friend who has a (ca.) 70 cm supermarket dish and single LNB on his roof, linked by longish wires (twisted together and covered...
Thks for the reply - I did the same but the main problem (esp. when tightening the bolts) was having to rely on another person to shout "better, worse, terrible etc.". The quality varies quite a bit even within a few minutes, so I'm not sure I have the best possible alignment.
If you're ever in...
As I can confirm after spending hours setting up my new Gibertini 1 m on 2F just using the receiver (Topfield - Humax mostly gives "no or bad signal" on 2F). Slightly better than the previous Optex 80 cm - 4/seven and patchy C5 during the morning/early afternoon - but still no "Ice Road...
Great tip - thanks Analoguesat!
Must be coincidence but reception is a lot better this morning - 60%-ish quality on C5 and 88% (!!) on 4/seven (Topfield), occasional viewable picture on 4/seven and (briefly) 4HD (Humax) although zilch on the 5s
